  100. Afterword

I don’t want to tell her things will definitely work because I don’t know that. The only thing I do know is that I wanted to kiss her and that I won’t refuse her if the opportunity ever comes again.

However, I could never forgive myself if I’d tried to convince her to do something too quickly. I just knew that I wanted to kiss her. I never thought past that at the time.

“What?” She looks surprised. “Imagine us breaking up while I still have to be your fake girlfriend and you my fake boyfriend.”

“You’re trying to talk yourself out of this,” I say.

“No… What? I’m not.” She takes a deep breath then edges closer to me, keeping her hands on her legs. “What do you think?”

“I don’t know.” I shrug. “I left my pros and cons list at home.”

That earns me a laugh, which makes me feel a bit better.

“I’m serious. I want to know your opinion on this.”

“I don’t know, Indigo.” And it’s true. “When I feel something, I just do it without asking myself why or what the repercussions will be, because I’ll never regret doing it. Especially kissing you. People kiss every day, and most of them don’t even feel like doing it, so I’d say that both of us wanting to is a pretty good start.”

She smiles softly at me and without thinking about it too much, I open my arms for her. “Come here.”

Judging by the look on her face, she isn’t necessarily happy to do it. She does it anyway, her intoxicating smell embracing me, along with the warmth of her body. This just feels right.

“I don’t think I’m ready for a commitment,” Indigo honestly declares. “There are already too many changes in my life, and this would be a major one.”

“Okay,” I whisper, knowing that if it’s meant to be, then it’ll happen eventually. “Thank you for talking with me.”

She nods in my arms, a sigh escaping her lips. I hope this conversation helped her with the consuming thoughts.

It certainly made me think about it more and I’ve realized the urge to kiss her didn’t just come from excitement.

CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

INDIGO

Admitting my feelings made things more real. While Elias seems unbothered by it, I’m freaking out, overthinking it as usual. I don’t know how someone can be so calm about something that complicates things that are already complicated.

That’s precisely why I’m here, two days early for my therapy appointment. Darla is a brilliant, gentle woman, but she pushes my buttons a lot. Every week, she gives me a new challenge I must achieve before our next session.
