I shook my head and put on my usual smile. “Good morning! You guys ready?” Olive's mom, Denise, looked as excited as ever in her bright yellow gear and next to her, Tom looked like he recently fell out of bed. You could easily tell who the morning person was in that relationship. The other two couples in Olive’s family trailed behind them.

“My friend Cooper will warm you guys up. I’m going to take Olive to gear up, and we will be right back.” I took a leap of faith that she wouldn’t smack me and grabbed her gloved hand with mine. Even with thick gloves between our skin, I could still feel sparks from her touch. Olive's mouth was slightly open, she looked down at our hands and back up to me.

“Okay.” She said quietly.

With her hand still in mine, I walked us to the small building that served as a rest area for people to change clothes or use the bathroom. We had an extra locker room in the far back that was much nicer than the one at the original resort. I led her to the room and pulled out the clothes I brought for her.

“Hopefully they fit you. If not I have some zip ties, and I can probably make it work.” Her mouth twitched in a small smile, but she quickly shut it down. Even if it was only a millisecond, I knew she had a gorgeous smile, and I would make it another goal of mine to see how I could get her to do it again.

“Okay.” Olive grabbed the winter clothes from me then placed them on a bench. She reached down to unzip her windbreaker jacket and then looked up at me.

“Aren’t you gonna turn around?”

“Do I have to?“ I wouldn’t mind seeing what’s under all those layers, peeling her back like an onion. No, not like an onion—that’s not sexy. Like a present. She was like a present with a bow on top. That was it.

Her eyes narrowed and she twirled her pointer finger in a circle, telling me to turn around. I rolled my eyes and reluctantly faced the other wall. I heard her zippers sliding down and buttons being undone. Even the sound of it was hot.

“You know, if we’re gonna fake date, you might as well let me look. It’ll help us bond so we’ll seem more realistic.”

A shirt was thrown at my back.

“We are not fake dating after today, and there is no way you will ever see me naked.”

Well, I wouldn’t say that just yet. I focused on the white brick wall in front of me as I listened to her slipping on the expensive new ski clothes.

“Why can’t we keep going just for a while longer? They liked me, didn’t they?”
