Anyway, Greta's much more open now, and she's really worked a lot out in therapy, which is why I think she wanted you to get your shit together. Also she took a short course of Askalar and it really helped her step back and reassess. Yes! Askalar. It's really helped a lot of people through bad patches in our modern times. She was diagnosed by her doctor as having Disorder and so they put her on it. Carl has been so supportive and understanding. He's such a caring great guy. So they're fine. I mean you know, taking it slow and really careful about everything, but fine. Even though they are finally together, after all that's . . . been . . . um . . . between them, they are taking it slow.
I just thought it was best for you to hear all that from me, rather than, like, some awful random person.
So nothing's going on with you?
Ha! No, sorry. I was just remembering this joke that Carl told me. Go on. No, I'm listening, go on.
You got a dog, wow. How cute. What's its name? Checkers, that is so sweet. It's so important to learn to care.
Where did you get her . . . him?
At East Side Pets?! Oh wow. No it's just that place has such a rep as a horrible puppy factory. I hope he's had all his shots and everything. Oh really? Oh. Wait. Sorry, but you know what, I have to make a really fast phone call but keep talking.
Hi, Sheila? Hi! Oh wait. Hello? Hi, where are you? That's hilarious.
No, sorry, keep talking. Isn't it crazy, mobile phones?
Oh but it's always so crowded there. I'm kind of "in proximity. " You know, just here with our Funny Friend. Hahahaha. No totally!
What did you just say? No, keep talking. I can totally pay attention.
Don't worry. Anna is a really close friend of mine I can get in there.
No keep talking!
What? Meet you where? No tell me again?
No keep talking!
Hahaha!
Keep talking!
Hahaha!

Hangover
brunch, the morning after, 1995
Hey! Wow! You made it. Did you like write it down on your hand or something? No it's just I swore to myself and everyone at Rio's last night that you were definitely not going to make it here so we wouldn't have to save you a seat for brunch. But come sit, no biggie, everyone left so there's plenty of room. No, go ahead and order something. We closed out our check though so don't try to do one of your little scams! You rascal! I'll stay for a bit. At least till you get your usual Bloody Mary or five!
I can't believe you are even standing after last night. What a night, huh? Aren't you hung over? Do you even remember how you got home? I'm glad you're OK—
Or are you?
