To tell you the truth, they are a little boring! They never go out, never want to make plans, they just want to spend all their time all over each other. And they just bought a huge beautiful place upstate and they're fixing it up together. Actually Tyler is up there right now. They commissioned him to paint a mural on the wall. Of course, with what's going on with Tyler's career it'll probably be worth more than the house! Did you see that amazing cover article about him in Artforum? Jeez!

Actually you didn't come up in conversation that much, weirdly. But Carl did mention how happy they are for you and your things and projects and efforts you have been working on. And they are both really glad that you aren't upset, and they wanted me to be sure you got help if you needed it. They were worried about you last spring when all the shit hit the fan, so to speak, and you got kind of . . . erratic on the phone and everything. Greta really wants to talk to you, you know, make contact. Take your time, take your time. But any time you want to talk, call her. She's at their country house upstate most weekends, working on her memoir.

I know you think Greta is narcissistic, but she's been through a lot. I mean the kind of childhood she had . . . Yeah, she sort of came to terms with it recently. It's weird how things are at a positive confluence for her—Greta may have been the stereotypical gorgeous beautiful "bitch" when we were in college, and I know during the breakup, you screamed to Greta how she always manipulated people to get what she wants, but it makes sense. Not that I am condoning her actions, per se. But she had to protect herself growing up, and put herself through school. She's overcome a lot of obstacles, which kind of demands respect, right? Even though I can totally see how it might be hard from your perspective. I don't know. Greta's just been through a lot. Some people try to gain the nobility of hardship, you know? They move to the city with dreams of being rock stars or filmmakers or whatever trying to grasp at authenticity. And for some other people, it just shines through, naturally.
