“I remember calling and telling you that you need to back off, especially after your night with Nathan. I just find the coincidence of him not remembering the evening a little too strange, especially when it’s the second time that’s happened.” He stood over her, intimidating her, and it looked like it was working.

“I… I can’t help it if he’s a fucking drunk,” she said, finding some bravery. “We did nothing. You passed out as I undressed you, and then you vomited everywhere.”

Relief flooded my system. I didn’t have sex with her.

“Leave Candy. No one wants you. You keep coming back, and that is really pathetic,” Callum said from behind me.

“You know what? Fuck you guys, and I hope you’re happy with that widowed whore.” She snapped. “I take that back. I hope she fucking ruins you and you know what it feels like to be discarded like trash.” She stomped back to her car.

Aiden grabbed her by her upper arm. “Call her a whore again and see what happens, Candy.”

“Fuck you,” she spit in his face, yanking her arm back.

“That’s rich, Candy, calling her a whore when you’ve fucked all of us and a few guys from the lumberyard.” Callum shouted, and I flinched, hoping Jane wasn’t listening in.

She flipped us off and got into her car. I watched her leave as dread pooled in my gut. I got a feeling that she wasn’t just going to go away. I walked away from the door, glancing around the living room for Jane. Thank God she was still showering.

“Why did you go back to her?” Cal asked, looking disgusted.

I sat down on the sofa, resting my forearms on my thighs. “It was the weekend you went with Jane to the wedding.” It was easier to say that than the real reason for my weekend bender.

“So, she drugged you, or did you get shitfaced?” Cal asked tactlessly.

“I had two beers before I saw her and I literally cannot remember a thing until the morning after when I woke up next to her,” snapping at him. “I… I was under the impression we slept together, and I felt the exact same way as I did at the festival.”

“Why didn’t you stay away from her?” Callum barked.

“I remember seeing her at the pool tables with some guys and I stayed by the bar, Cal.” I stood up, bothered by his attitude.

“It doesn’t matter anymore.” Aiden glared at both of us. “There is nothing he can do now and there is no point in getting mad. Nathan, you have to be careful around her.”
