My vision blurred and I had to cover my face to hide the tears that just kept coming. All I wanted to do now was go back to the hotel, get back under the covers, and cry some more, but that unfortunately wasn’t an option. I needed to get my life back in order, but I missed the guys so much. Now, all I could think of was, could I trust them? Was I even worth it? The cracks formed in my patched-up facsimile of myself. I’m broken, and who wants that?

TWENTY-FOUR
Nathan
I’d been in Dallas for a week. Aiden and I arrived only to find out that Jane had checked out of her hotel room the morning before we got there. Aiden needed to go back to Mountain View to take care of business, but also to be with Cal. Apparently Lucio gave him another fight, which he barely won because poor Cal hadn’t had enough time to rest. I had thought of multiple ways for us to take care of Lucio, they were all illegal, but a dude can dream, right?
Apparently, Jane was MIA because not even her brothers, or Madie knew where she was. I was walking down Main Street in downtown, still trying to figure out if I was staying or going. I wasn’t even remotely close to finding her, and it felt like the more I was here, the more time I was wasting. I got in line for some street tacos at a park that had a few food trucks to satisfy the lunch rush. One good thing about being in Dallas was the great food.
“Nathan?” I tensed at my name, realizing that it wasn’t a feminine voice.
Disappointed, I turned around and saw Julian standing behind me. He waved at me enthusiastically, and I couldn’t help but do the same.
“What are you doing here and what happened to your hand?” he asked.
I debated telling him before I grew desperate and said ‘Fuck it’. “I’m looking for Jane, but she seemed to have disappeared into thin air, and someone mugged me back home. Apparently, you’re not supposed to fight back.”
His face instantly fell, looking somber. “She didn’t tell you?”
Worry prickled down my spine. “No, what happened? She’s shut us out, and I’m worried for her.”
His face softened. “She came back to Dallas, because Henry’s ex contested the will. She and Henry apparently had a child together. She’s five-years-old.”
My stomach dropped like I was riding a roller coaster. “When was this?”
“About two weeks ago.”
Fuck. This is why she hadn’t been responding to us.
“You don’t know where she’s at?” I held my breath, hoping for just a morsel of information where I could find her.
“I’m pretty sure she’s staying at the Magnolia,” Julian said.
