“I haven’t gone to a bar and…” I took a deep breath. “I’m going to try to cope better. It doesn’t help that my mother is an insufferable twat, but I’m done. I’ve blocked her, and I won’t be listening to her bullshit anymore.”

Callum’s face softened. “I’m sorry man, I didn’t mean to be a dick. Candy is bad news and I just have a terrible feeling about her and what she might do because she doesn’t care.”

“Let’s just make sure we aren’t alone around her. I think she’s been drugging Nate, but we don’t know for sure.” Aiden said, looking at Callum and then at me. “I’m glad you’ve cut your mother off. She’s a leech who doesn’t deserve you.”

“Thanks,” I said, feeling grateful for the brotherly love we shared.

“You look like you got to spend some quality time with Jane.” He smirked, raising his eyebrow at me, knowing we just had some fun. “Is she ok?”

“We had fun. She initiated it by the way.” I said before one of them got the wrong picture. “She seemed good.”

“I’m jealous you got to spend time with her, but glad she wasn’t alone. Now, I have to go fix this big fucking problem with the Calhoun’s backsplash.” Aiden walked out of the room.

“That bad?” I asked Cal.

He shrugged. “We are short on guys again and the backsplash we installed is expensive as hell. It’s going to set us back a pretty penny. This is definitely going to eat into our profits.”

“Uh-oh, is everything ok?” Jane walked into the room, freshly showered, looking sexy in another enormous shirt and boxer briefs.

“Just some stuff with the Calhoun’s,” Callum said, shrugging.

“Shit, did I mess up?” Jane looked worried. “I hope I didn’t confuse them and Mrs. Montgomery’s. Shit, I better go help.”

“He’s a big boy, I’m sure he’s got it.” Callum grabbed her before she could leave the room. He kissed her neck, and I could see her relaxing into his touch.

She giggled. “Callum, let me go check on Aiden.”

“Give me twenty minutes,” he said, nipping at her ear.

“Twenty minutes, my ass.” She laughed. “I’ll be right back.” She gave him a quick kiss, but he pulled her back for a longer kiss. I was glad Callum was happy with Jane. He was such a different person around her. I think we all were. I smiled at them, leaving to give them some privacy to enjoy each other.

“I got it!” Jane yelled at me for the fifth time. “I can make dinner for the four of us.”

“I was just trying to help,” I said, sitting on a bar stool.
