Callum evaded a few punches until he hit him with an uppercut, pushing him back, and Callum started wailing on him. He landed punch after punch until he hit him so hard his head snapped back, and the bell rang. The guy landed on the floor with a loud thud. I expected him to get right back up as I walked into the cage and tended to Callum. His eye was swelling shut and his lips were swelling more and more. It took everything I had to work efficiently, and not let my emotions get the best of me.

“Fuck,” Callum exhaled, and I tensed up, turning around to see that his opponent had not gotten up and was still on the floor unconscious. Callum’s relief was palpable, and I was so fucking grateful. I packed up my things before we walked out of the cage down the aisle. So many people were screaming Callum’s name, and I was proud. It scared me he would be stuck in this world, and I didn’t know if I could handle that.

Callum

Once we got to the locker-room, I felt the shakes start. It was one of the worst feelings after a big fight. I could only see out of one eye as we finally made it to the room. Sitting on the bench, everything fucking hurt. Most of my pain came from my rib, every time I took a breath. I was trying not to wince, but I knew Jane was monitoring my breathing.

“Here, take this. It will help with the pain and swelling,” Jane said, putting two pills into my mouth, and for once, I didn’t question her.

“Damn, Cal, you were fucking amazing at the end,” Nathan said, standing right in front of me.

“You scared us, but you did real good, Cal.” Aiden squatted down in front of me.

Jane was looking through her stuff and stood in between my legs, checking my face with her lips pursed. If I had to take a guess, I think she was trying to think of a way to get me to the hospital so they could check my ribs.

“I just want to get you comfortable, and do the rest at home,” Jane said, wiping down my face with saline. I had a superb view of her rack, and I was glad I had something else to think about.

Just as Jane was packing up her stuff, the door slammed opened and in came Lucio, looking pissed.

“That was too close, Callum,” he snarled.
