“I’m sorry. This wasn’t supposed to be a shit show,” I said, looking down at her, feeling confident in my conclusion. “I was stupid to assume that all we needed to do was talk. We broke your trust and now I know it’s going to take time for us to get back to where we were before the Lucio debacle. So, all I’m asking is for you to keep an open mind and I promise we will earn your trust back.”

Jane studied me warily. “Aiden, I’m just looking for honesty, stability, and love in my life. I just don’t think…”

“Don’t fight it, please.” I interrupted her. “We like you and we will put in the work. We want to fight for you, and I promise we will.”

I kissed her cheek, lingering by her ear. “Callum said you mentioned sharing, and yes Jane, we love to share.” She took a sharp breath in. I kissed her ear and walked away. Just that small touch sent my body roaring with desire. I didn’t look back, but I felt her gaze. This was just a minor victory. I got into the Bronco as Cal started it.

“What the hell did you tell her?” Cal asked suspiciously.

“I told her we were going to win her trust back and that we love to share.” I shrugged.

“What? Don’t you think it might be too soon to be mentioning shit like that?” Nathan asked, surprised.

“No, I wanted to make sure she knew we wanted her as much as she had wanted us. Something for her to look forward to,” I said, leaning my arm against the window.

“How are we earning her trust?” Cal asked.

“Next fight, I think we need to invite her and instead of just text messages, we need to spend time with her. I want her knowing we aren’t going anywhere,” I said while I ran a hand down my beard. “We can say all the shit we want, but if we don’t have action to back it up, she will not give us another chance. She said she was looking for honesty, stability and love in her life.”

No one said anything, making me worry we weren’t on the same page. Did her comment scare them off? I turned to look at Cal, deep in thought, and then Nate, who also looked to be mulling over what I had just said.

“Are we on the same page?” I asked.

“Uh… yeah.” Nate replied first.

Cal nodded his head. But I wasn’t convinced. “If this isn’t what we want anymore, tell me now because we need to get over our shit if we are going through with this.”

Cal looked torn. “You think we even have a chance? You heard how pissed she was. Also, I feel like that might be a tall order to fill.”
