I went around another fallen tree before I stopped to look back at it. Dammit, was this the same tree I just passed earlier? I placed some rocks by the tree just in case, then I would know I was going in a circle. Looking at my phone again, I made sure I was still going the right way. I pinned the location last time to make sure I could still get back here, wishing I was coming back with the guys. Even with the emotional rollercoaster I was on from this morning, the guys still crawled back into my thoughts.

The faint sound of water made me pick my pace up, excited that I made it back here on my own. Eagerness rushed through me as the sound got louder, but of course, in true Jane fashion, I tripped over a branch that caught my foot at just the right angle, sending me tumbling down. Throwing my hands out, I tried to cushion the fall, feeling rocks and other debris cutting up my palms. I groaned at the sharp pain as I laid on the forest floor, feeling like an idiot. I slowly got up to my knees, noticing they were scraped too and regretting not wearing pants.

I inspected my injuries. Nothing felt broken, and the scrapes looked superficial. I got up, dusting myself off. The waterfall sounded close enough that I would wait to patch myself up when I got there. I began walking at a slower pace, feeling my body ache a little, dreading the soreness I was definitely going to feel tomorrow.

“Damn, can’t believe it’s this hot already.”

I stilled at the manly voice. Shit, I didn’t think I would see anyone out here, especially since last time we didn’t.

“Glad we came out early instead of waiting.” Another voice said.

The sound of footsteps came closer as I just stood there. I didn’t know if I should just turn around and go back to my car or wait to see where they were going. I took too long to decide before a familiar voice called out.

“Jane?” I grimaced at Callum’s voice.

The footsteps had stopped right behind me. I looked to my left, seeing Callum and I turned around, seeing Aiden and Nathan too. Just my luck, right?

“Uh… Hi,” I said, feeling awkward.

Nathan smiled at me, Aiden looked wary, and Callum looked surprised. The air was charged with whatever tension we had going on between us. It was as if time had frozen.

“Good Morning, beautiful,” Callum said first, reminding me of the text I received this morning and the vivid description of how much Callum said he missed me and my body.

“Good morning,” I said, trying to stay calm. “I…”

“Are you ok?” Aiden took a step forward, looking at my hands.
