“I think we’ve had an eventful night. We want to see his new earnings reflected. We also want to keep track of his balance owed.” Aiden said, knowing this situation was getting out of hand.
“Of course, Callum needs his rest and time for Jane to patch him up.” He smiled, but the look he gave Jane was completely deranged. “I’m so glad you all are still together. I had heard you all went your separate ways, but knew it couldn’t be true.”
“Of course, we are doing just fine.” Jane said. Out of the corner of my eye, she reached up to kiss Cal. It wasn’t just something innocent, either.
“I’m glad. Jane is definitely a woman you need to keep close.” Lucio smiled. “I’ll see you guys soon then.” As he walked out of the room, the tension vanished.
“Hey, it’s going to be ok,” Cal said as I turned around to see Jane.
She visibly shuddered. “I hate that man.”
Cal tilted her face up to his. “He’s just goading us, and we just need to play it smart.” He leaned down for another kiss.
Jane turned her head. He kissed her check. His brows furrowed in confusion as she pulled away.
“I think you’re all patched up, so I’ll just go.” She was looking at the door.
“Let us take you home,” I said, reaching for her, but she stepped back.
“Jane, we need to talk,” Cal said, looking like he wanted to reach out for her again.
She laughed, looking up at the ceiling. “I think we are a little late for that, Callum.”
“What was that kiss for, then?” Cal stepped forward.
“I’m not stupid Callum. I know it’s better for him to think we are together.” She shrugged. “That doesn’t mean we are.”
“So, is this just a game to you?” Cal said with a bite to his words.
“No, Callum. But you made it clear it was ok to fuck me and leave me, without talking to me. Who started playing the game first?” She looked up at him as anger burned in her eyes.
Callum looked away, ashamed. “I fucked up. Just let me explain myself.”
“Let us all explain ourselves,” I said, looking over at Aiden, who still looked at Jane with suspicion. I did not know what his problem was, but it was irritating me.
“You had your chance.” She looked at each of us before she left the room. Cal stepped forward to follow her, I caught him and shook my head no.
“I’ll go,” I said, walking after her before Evan came through the door Jane had just left.
“I’ll make sure she gets home.” Evan stepped in front of me. “She needs space.”
“What’s it to you?” Aiden raised his eyebrows at Evan.
“She came with Darcy. It was a girls’ night out apparently before it got hijacked,” he said.
