“Are you implying that she played us?” I winced at the jab Cal took to his body and the one to his face. He stumbled back while Bromley advanced, throwing punches. Cal threw his arms up to protect his face, leaving his body vulnerable.

“Move Cal!” Aiden yelled.

Bromley was getting more confident as he landed more punches. Cal was silent, taking hits like a champ until Bromley hit him on the side. He groaned, protecting his side, giving Bromley just what he needed… a weakness.

“Come on, Cal! Kick. His. Ass.” Jane yelled from right next to me. She leaned her hands against the cage, looking worried. One of Lucio’s guards came up to her, looking like he was going to drag her back to her chair.

“Touch her and I’ll make sure you don’t walk out of here,” I snapped at the guard.

He looked at me, then behind me and at the cage. “Boss wants her with him.”

“I don’t give a shit,” I said, noticing Jane standing closer to me.

“Yes, Cal!” Aiden hit the cage.

I looked at Cal while he threw a powerful piston punch. He was breathing fast, sweating like crazy, but he looked like he finally got his shit together. He threw an uppercut that snapped Bromley’s head back, opening him up for Cal to throw a backfist, knocking Bromley back on his ass.

“Yes!” Jane and I yelled at the same time.

The ref pushed Cal back when Bromley didn’t move. Cal winced when he turned around towards us, immediately locking eyes with Jane. The guard behind her looked nervous the closer Cal got towards us.

“You took your time.” Aiden looked up at Cal.

“Fuck you.” Cal was taking deep breaths, grimacing as he controlled himself. He rolled out his shoulders, turning to the ref as he called the fight. Cal raised his hands as the crowd went wild. It was the biggest crowd I’d ever seen, and I knew that this was going to be bad for Cal. I glanced at Lucio, while the smug fucker looked like he had dollar signs in his eyes.

Cal walked out towards us. “Let’s go.” He grabbed Jane’s hand, bringing her with us.

“Not you, fucker,” Aiden sneered at Lucio’s chump.

We walked back to the room where Cal warmed up. Closing the door, Cal fell to his knees as he started to violently shake.

“Fuck,” he grunted.

“Come on, we need to patch him up and get him some food. His body is working overtime,” Jane said, rubbing his shoulder.

Aiden and I got on either side of Cal, lifting him up underneath each arm, taking him to a chair next to all our supplies.

“Fuck, why can’t I stop shaking?” Callum’s teeth chattered.
