- Don't miss out!
When I got back to the apartment, I took off the killer heels I was wearing and decided to take a hot bath. As I ran the water, I poured in a capful of vanilla-scented bubble bath. Stripping out of my dress, I climbed into the tub and sighed as I sank down into the hot, bubbly water. My brain was on overload and trying to process too much too soon. First with Brendon. Then with Giana and Donovan, and now the hot guy from the plane. It didn’t matter anyway. I was sure he was in town for the gala and I’d never see him again. At least I hoped that I’d never see him again. I looked at the razor that sat on the edge of the tub as the feeling of hopelessness coursed through my veins. I picked it up and held it in my hand as the flashbacks started. Just this once. I’d been through so much lately, and now, seeing the man I’d thought about since the day I laid eyes on him three months ago with his wife, was too much. I looked at my scar. The one thing that would always be a constant reminder. I threw the razor across the bathroom and it landed behind the toilet. As I stepped out and dried off, I put on my pajamas and climbed into bed. I couldn’t think anymore. My brain hurt, my heart hurt, and my feelings hurt. I just wanted to go to sleep and forget everything and everyone.

Chapter 6
The morning sun was shining brightly through the entryway as I walked through the living room and into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. My head was throbbing, compliments of one too many whiskey sours last night. As I waited for the coffee to brew, I found a bottle of aspirin and chased down two white pills with a glass of water. With my phone in hand, I took my cup of coffee over to the couch and sat down to check some emails. I was surprised when I opened up the email from Kendra.
Hi, Gabby,
I just wanted to let you know that I have a friend that works for Young International and they have an opening in their marketing department for an associate. If you don’t know, Young International is one of the largest luxury hotel chains in the world. Their headquarters is based in Seattle. I don’t know if you’re willing to move or not, but I can call my friend and set up an interview for you. I feel really bad about having to let you go. You were one of our best employees. If you’re interested, call me.
Sincerely,
Kendra Howe
I couldn’t believe it as I kept reading her email over and over again. I opened up my contacts on my phone and dialed her immediately.
“This is Kendra.”
