I was happier than ever living with Simon and working at Young International. For the first time, my life was complete and I was right where I belonged. We were sitting in the lounge chairs outside on the patio, sipping mojitos, and watching the sunset over the lake.

“I want to marry you, Gabrielle.”

I nearly choked on my drink. “What?”

“I’m going to propose to you.”

“Oh. Okay.”

“Okay?”

“Okay, master?”

He chuckled and then reached in his pocket and pulled out a small box. “I’m serious.”

My heart skipped a thousand beats. We had never talked about marriage except the time he said he didn’t believe in it. I gulped as he turned to me.

“I probably should have done this in a more romantic way, but I couldn’t wait.” He got up from his seat, took my hand, and helped me up. “I love you so much and I never want to lose you again. You’ve turned my entire world upside down and I like it. You are the most beautiful and intelligent woman I have ever laid eyes on and you mean more to me than anything else in my life. Words can’t even describe my love for you, baby. So will you please do me the honor of becoming my wife and spending the rest of your life with me? If you say yes, I’ll give you the world. Well, I’ll still give you the world, even if you say no.” He smiled as he slipped the enormous diamond on my finger.

“Yes, I will marry you, Simon,” I squealed as I threw my arms around his neck. “I love you so much and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you.”

“You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.” He picked me up and carried me up to our bedroom.

Finally, I had the one thing I’d searched for my entire life. A love that was beyond measure and someone who loved me more than life itself. A love called Simon.
