- Don't miss out!
“One more thing before we go to sleep,” I softly spoke.
“What is it?”
“Last night, you told the officer that you were my boyfriend. Is that what we are?”
His grip around me tightened. “I believe we are and I’m happy to say that you’re my first girlfriend, Gabrielle.”
A wide smile splayed across my face. I wanted so badly to tell him that I loved him, but I couldn’t. I was too scared to say it first. He said I was his girlfriend and that we were a couple, but those three words were never spoken by either of us.

Chapter 26
I’d spent every night after work at the hospital for the past week. G had woken up three days after the shooting and was having a hard time with everything. Her hospital room was filled with flowers from the law firm and many cards wishing her a speedy recovery. Donovan was still in a coma and G cried every day. Simon and I tried to keep her as calm as we could. He pulled some strings and got the two of them in the same room together. That way, G could talk to Donovan whenever she wanted. Even though he was in a coma, the nurse said he could still hear things. I was still staying at Simon’s house because I couldn’t bear to go back to the apartment yet. Simon had hired a cleaning crew to go over and clean up the mess, so when G was released from the hospital, everything would be in order. He was an amazing boyfriend and a very generous man. He went with me every night to visit Giana and Donovan, and then we’d go back to his house and make love. Things couldn’t have been more perfect with us. He still liked his control and he didn’t hesitate to let me know it, but that was okay because I was falling more in love with him every day.
Another month had passed and Giana and Donovan were getting stronger. The three of us had moved into a different apartment because G refused ever to go back to the one we had and the two of them couldn’t bear to be apart from one another. I had told her that I would get my own place, but they both insisted that I move in with them, at least temporarily until they were both a hundred percent better. It was not like I was there all that much anyway. I spent more nights at Simon’s house that I practically lived there. Word had gotten out at Young International that Simon and I were seeing each other, and he smiled proudly as he walked through the building.
“Why are you sulking?” G asked as she stepped into my bedroom.
“I miss Simon.”
“He’s only been gone a day. When is he due back?”
“Tomorrow night.”
