- Don't miss out!
“Hi, Kendra, it’s Gabby. I just read your email.”
“Gabby. Good to hear from you. I don’t know if you’re interested in relocating or not.”
“Kendra, I moved to Seattle a few days ago. I’m staying with my best friend, Giana.”
“What? You moved? What about Brendon?”
“I broke up with him the day you laid me off. I came home and he was screwing some chick from his office.”
“Oh my God, Gabby. I’m so sorry. I had no idea. So you packed up and moved to Seattle?”
“Yeah. I need a fresh start with fresh people.”
“Perfect. You haven’t found a job yet, have you?”
“No. To be honest, I haven’t started looking yet.”
“Great. Let me call Peter. He’s a good friend of mine and we got to talking yesterday. He said that they were looking for someone to fill one of their vacant positions. I did tell him about you and he sounded very interested. I’ll put him in touch with you.”
“Thank you, Kendra. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
“Don’t mention it, Gabby. It’s the least I can do.”
As soon as we hung up, I heard the door open and G strolled into the living room with a smile on her face.
“It’s official. I’m in love with him,” she said as she plopped herself down next to me.
“So how does it feel to be in love with a married man?” I spewed.
“Ugh, Gabby. Just because he wears a ring doesn’t mean he’s married. Wait. That didn’t come out right. Well, you know what I mean.”
“Just be careful, G. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“Don’t worry about me.” She smiled. “Did you have fun last night?”
“It was okay.” There was no use telling her about my encounter with Airplane Guy.
“Listen, I’m sorry that I dragged you there.”
“Just forget about it. I have some news.”
I told her about the phone call I had with Kendra and she became all excited.
“See, I told you things would start looking up and they are.”
My phone began to ring in my hand. It was from an unknown number. I suspected it was Peter, so I answered it.
“Hello.”
“Hi, is this Gabrielle McCarthy?” a man asked.
“Yes. This is she.”
“Hi, Gabrielle, this is Peter Landry. Our mutual friend, Kendra, forwarded me your number. She tells me you just moved to Seattle.”
“Yes. I did. A few days ago.”
“Well, first of all, welcome. Second of all, I would like you to come in for an interview if you’re interested.”
“I’m very interested. Thank you, Peter.”
“No problem. I’m going to email you an application. I just need you to fill it out and email it back to me before the interview.”
“Sure.”
“Are you available tomorrow morning at ten o’clock?”
