- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
JD: I could get behind this.
RB: Not only cookies. Pies, too. When things get really wild, they make macaroons.
JD: Shit, macaroons?! Party animals. Is it on Netflix?
RB: Mhm! I apologize in advance for all the time you’re going to waste watching it. It’s my comfort show!
JD: Uh oh. Rough day?
RB: Not really. More like a confusing day? It’s work stuff. Which is off-limits for our discussion.
RB: Short version: A coworker and I don’t see eye to eye on things, and it takes a toll on me sometimes.
RB: But lately, it feels like we’ve reached a turning point of neutrality. A fork stuck in the road.
JD: Okay, Green Day.
JD: Want me to go Liam Neeson on your coworker’s ass? Because I will.
JD: No questions asked.
RB: I just laughed out loud in my empty house.
RB: I appreciate the offer, but that’s okay. I think our future will only improve from here.
JD: Does that make you happy?
RB: Yeah. I think it does.
RB: I’ll keep you on speed dial, though, just in case I need some backup.
JD: While I have no clue where you work or how I’d help, the offer still stands.
RB: You must get along with all your colleagues, huh?
JD: For the most part. There’s one person I have a history with, but it’s no big deal.
RB: Sounds like there’s a good story there.
JD: We’ve known each other for years.
JD: To be fair, I’m probably a dick frequently. And I instigate a lot of hostility between us.
JD: Hm. Hostility isn’t the right word. Tension, perhaps? Weirdness? Orbiting just outside the zone of friendship?
JD: I think deep down I want them to pay attention to me. I’m trying to be cognizant of my behavior.
RB: That makes you a big person if you’re willing to admit you’ve maybe not been the best.
JD: Enough with my melodramatics.
JD: You said you like to make cupcakes, Bugs Bunny. What else do you bake?
RB: You remember that?
JD: Of course.
RB: Baking is my favorite thing to do. It’s a great stress reliever.
JD: I’ve never baked anything in my life.
RB: What?! How is that possible?
RB: What kind of childhood did you have? Or adulthood?
RB: How do you survive?
JD: On takeout and delivery meal services with already prepared dishes. Someone always cooked for me growing up.
RB: Wow.
RB: Did you type that with your pinky up, oh privileged one?
JD: Upon reflection, I’m aware of how pretentious it sounds.
JD: Also, to answer your earlier email question, my preferred flavor is chocolate with vanilla frosting.
RB: With or without the expensive gold shavings on top, Your Highness?
JD: Now I’m laughing. Damn you, RB. You’re good.
