- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
HD: But I like knowing it’s you.
VRG: Remember the day you came into my office and I hit my head on the bookshelf?
VRG: I was freaking out that I asked you what you liked to do in your free time.
VRG: It’s kind of funny to think you were giving me advice about a message delivered to you.
HD: For the record, I’m glad you asked for advice about how to stop a message from being delivered AFTER you sent that one to me.
HD: How’s your day going?
VRG: Not too bad!
VRG: I’m starving. I haven’t had a chance to eat lunch yet. It’s next on the agenda.
HD: …it’s 2 o’clock.
VRG: I’ve been busy!
HD: Want me to bring you something?
VRG: That’s okay, I’m walking to the kitchen as we speak.
HD: *Attachment: 1 Image*
HD: Made reservations for the escape room at 7 on Friday night. That cool?
VRG: That’s perfect!
VRG: Is it okay if I meet you there?
HD: Of course.
HD: I’ll also grab some cookie supplies, too, should the mood strike.
VRG: I’m excited.
HD: Me, too.
HD: Good luck on your interview tomorrow! You’re going to nail it.
VRG: Thanks, Henry. Talk to you later!

October 11th
VRG: I’m craving Cheetos.
VRG: Except I’m about to go into my interview and can’t walk around with orange dust on my fingers.
HD: No? I think it would make a great first impression.
HD: Professional. Dignified. We need to drop the stigma surrounding clean hands.
VRG: You’re so weird.
HD: I bet you laughed.
VRG: Maybe. Off I go!
HD: Go kill it, Emma!

October 12th
VRG: Do you have anything to do with the bag of Cheetos sitting on my desk?
HD: Hm? Me?
HD: I have no clue what you’re talking about.
VRG: Henry.
HD: Emma.
HD: Fine. Yes. I might have stumbled into the vending machine earlier. A bag of Cheetos might have popped out. And I might have put them on your desk when you were away.
VRG: Thank you so much! These made my day!
HD: Always happy to help, Sunflower.
HD: Quick vibe check—still good for tomorrow?
VRG: Yup. I’ll meet you out front at 7.
HD: Cool. See you then!
TWENTY-ONE
EMMA
“I can’t believe you’ve been talking to Henry!” Nicole gushes through the phone while I pull on my jeans, almost toppling over as my foot gets caught in the bottom part of the denim.
“It was a surprise for sure. It’s also kind of cool; there’s so much more to him than meets the eye. I almost feel bad for all the things I used to assume about him.”
