The day was chaotic in the best way. Aiden and the guys helped make sure everything was set up, then they set the tables and helped the caterer. They wanted me to enjoy my time getting pampered with the girls. Katherine, Sabrina, and I got our nails and hair done, waxing, and massages. Kelsey worked at the local spa, and she got us in. We arrived at my house at three in the afternoon with just enough time to do our makeup and slip on our dresses before the five-thirty start time.

“I still can’t believe she finished this house, and she went with all this rustic stuff. You’d think she would have had better taste.” I walked in on my brother talking trash and I wish he would have just stayed in Dallas.

“Just ignore him,” Katherine whispered, knowing she was trying to keep the peace.

“I think it was great she finished the house,” Nathan’s voice carried, and I stopped walking. The girls stayed still with me. “She put a lot of time and effort into it, making sure it was homey and inviting so her family could enjoy it. I think it has helped her heal too.” My heart grew full at his words.

“I love it,” Julian said, as the girls and I walked into the kitchen.

“Thanks, Julian.” I hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Hey girl, you look fantastic.” Julian’s smile had me blushing a little. “Colorado sure seems to look good on you.”

“You have no idea,” Sabrina laughed.

“Oh, shut it,” I retorted, but I knew she was playing around.

“Surprising. I figure it would just make you worse, and we would all have to help you when you got back to Dallas,” Paul sneered.

I opened my mouth to say something snarky to him.

“That was fucking rude, babe.” Julian looked at Paul in shock, and Paul had the decency to look chastened by it.

“Hi Jane, you look great,” Paul said to me and it looked like it just about killed him to say it.

“Thanks,” I said, being civil. “We gotta finish getting ready. Come on ladies, we can go to my room.”

“Jane, I still can’t believe you live here. It’s amazing.” Sabrina couldn’t stop admiring the house. “And this bathroom, shit, I would give up one of the kids for a bathroom like this.”

“No! You can’t give away my niece or nephew,” I laughed. “You can come here to use my bathroom.”

“I’ll move in full-time,” she snickered. “Matthew would love that.”

“He’d go crazy without you,” Katherine said, laying out her makeup.
