Paul sat with my mother, looking like they both were eating shit with the sour faces they had. I smiled at them, not giving a fuck about whatever they were pissed at. Last I heard, Julian left Paul, but they were talking again. I don’t doubt it, but I’m sure he will blame me for that too if it goes up in flames. Apparently, Paul knew about Evelyn the entire time, and Julian was furious. Nathan and Julian became good friends. He called to tell me he did not know about Paul, and he was disappointed in him, especially when Paul admitted he had convinced Victoria to go after the will.
I have yet to hear anything from Paul. The two times we’ve seen each other, the guys haven’t let him near me. He’s had plenty of time to reach out and I’m done feeling guilty about whatever started this weird feud we had going. I don’t have room for petty shit.
The last person in the room was Madie. She was still a little nervous around me, but we had moved on. Our relationship wasn’t the same, but I still loved her, and I don’t think I could ever shut her out. We still talked regularly, and she still sends Aiden potential clients. I hugged her, kissed her cheek, and asked her about the kids.
The dinner was amazing. We toasted baby Eve; I decided on a nickname for Evelyn and even put it on her headstone. We had a moment of silence for her and even a half a moment for Henry. The guys said it would be the nice thing to do, and it was time to let him go.
The day after we arrived home, we hiked to our favorite spot. It was a gorgeous fall day, and the weather was surprisingly warm. Once we arrived at the waterfall, we took a load off and unpacked our picnic. The guys talked about some football player who was in the news recently and was looking to get a fine the size of Texas. Apparently, Aiden had him on his fantasy football team. I took my flannel shirt off as I laid down, enjoying their banter. I unbuttoned my pants, shimmying them down my legs, when their conversations stopped.
“Jane?” Cal’s voice was deep with arousal.
“I didn’t peg you for an exhibitionist, darling,” Nathan groaned.
“Baby, you’re playing with fire.” Aiden’s voice held a warning.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I assumed that since I no longer have an IUD anymore and the test this morning said I was ovulating, you’d be down….”
Callum scooped me up in his arms. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah.” Aiden and Nathan scooted closer to us. “The doctor who removed it said everything looked great, and he didn’t think I would have a problem conceiving.”
