“Thanks, asshole.” I looked up at Nathan as he passed Henry’s grave. He always says the same thing, and I can’t help but laugh. He says he has to thank him because his death and learning the truth about him, brought me to them. While he doesn’t condone his unfaithfulness, he can’t help but be grateful to the guy for fucking up, and making them look good.
“You ever going to stop?” I asked, getting up from the floor.
“Never.” He grinned, helping me up and pulling me to his side. “You know, while I hate him, he gave us the best gift.”
“I wouldn’t say he gave you a gift, but he made you go in the right direction.” Aiden kissed my forehead.
“He practically left you on our front door,” Callum grumbled, pecking me on the lips. It was very early in the morning. Callum was still waking up, but he never missed a visit.
“You ready, babycakes?” Nathan asked.
“Babycakes, really?” he laughed, as I poked his side.
“I think I still like darling better,” he said, as we walked back to the car.
“At least babycakes didn’t live as long as snookums,” Callum said, opening the door for me to hop in.
“Or pookie,” Aiden laughed.
“I like to keep my options open.” He shrugged, getting into the backseat with me. The guys teased him as I thought about the last year with them. Lucio was now in jail. Apparently, the Feds were monitoring him. I hear Evan helped them, as well as Dev. Many people wanted him gone, but didn’t have the courage to do anything about it.
Now that Callum was free of that burden, he was more relaxed. I didn’t realize how much that had weighed on him until the news broke of his arrest. We laid in bed and for the first time, Cal held on to me as he cried. He made love to me that night, slowly and steadily, whispering promises of being a better man.
Since that night, we’ve seen a shift in him. Now he talks about the future and has even asked if babies are a possibility. It was hard telling him and Aiden that I might not be able to have children, but Cal said he was ok with that. He wanted to adopt at least one child and give them the childhood he never had. Aiden suggested seeing a doctor again, and the next day he found me the best fertility specialist, saying when I was ready, they would be too.
