Victoria’s face fell, looking… guilty? “I… I…”

“Don’t.” I held up my hand. “I wish I could say that I don’t blame you, but it wasn’t you who strung me along for fucking years. I spent all those years loving him to realize in the end, he didn’t love me like I thought he did.”

“He always had excuses why he didn’t want to leave,” she said, with tears in her eyes. “He loved you.”

“That’s not love Victoria. You don’t hurt the ones you love for years. Love is all-encompassing. You should want to build up your partner, give them everything they need to succeed, and stick with them through thick and thin.” My chest tightened, thinking about the guys. Fuck, I missed them. “Goodbye, Victoria and Evelyn.” I got up, walking away lighter than I had been in years.

“Jane!” I turned to see Victoria walking towards me. “I just want to say I’m sorry you lost your baby.”

I hated she knew about the baby I lost, but deep down I’m glad she knew because hopefully that showed her how awful of a person Henry was. He strung us along for years and that fucker would have succeeded for a lot longer. I was oblivious, and for the first time in a long while, I was glad I ended up here, as shitty it that was, and that was okay.

“Thanks.” I didn’t know what else to say and left her in the courtyard. I walked into the building, seeing George by the entrance.

“She took it,” I said, giving him a hug.

“Good, I hate that you didn’t wait for the paternity test, but I just got it, and you were right. She is his daughter.”

“George, just look at her, she looks so much like Henry.” I heard heels behind me, and I wanted to leave before she got here. “Let me know if you need anything else.” Before I left, I hugged George and thanked him. I had so much to do in these past two weeks that I never thought of what I would do afterwards. I put the house in Mountain View for sale because I couldn’t stand looking at it and being reminded of Henry, but I never thought of where I would live after everything was done.
