“I’ve already been by, but they said she checked out,” I said, disappointed.

“Mmmm, I’m positive she’s still there. Paul said he talked to her friend, and she was hiding out there. She’s taking the whole Henry thing pretty hard.” Julian looked sad. “I mean, imagine if you found out your significant other had a whole other family he had been hiding.”

“How do you know about this?” I asked, a little suspicious.

“Oh, Paul knew, I assume she probably told him, I guess.” he shrugged.

“I’ve talked to JD and Matthew and they don’t know shit,” I said, feeling alarm bells ringing in my head, wondering how the hell Paul knew about this situation when her two closest brothers didn’t.

“Umm, that‘s kind of weird.” He pursed his lips, thinking about it.

We were up next to order food, I paid for his, hoping he would join me, and I could get any more details out of him.

“Doesn’t Paul work with Henry’s ex?” I asked, remember Callum saying something to that extent.

“Does he?” Julian looked a little alarmed.

“Yeah, Victoria. Jane mentioned she saw her at the wedding.” Our names were called, and I grabbed our order, heading to an open table.

“Wait, I didn’t know Victoria was Henry’s ex.” He gasped and covered his mouth. “Oh, my god, Evelyn is Henry’s child?” He looked like he was in shock. He quickly grabbed his phone and I’m sure it was to call Paul.

“Uh… before you place that call, can you think of maybe a different name she could be using? I really want to see her,” I asked, before he got lost in the drama of Paul.

“I’m sorry I don’t, but I’m positive she’s there. Paul just said something last night about her still being there, wasting money.” He looked down at his phone like it was offending him. “Do you think he knew?” Julian asked.

“Honestly, from the things Jane has said about Paul, I wouldn’t put it past him. He knew about the kid and he knows what is going on now.” Julian’s face fell at what I said, and I felt like a complete ass, but hoped that Julian would give him hell.

“I… fuck, if he knew, how could he keep that secret from Jane?” He looked so sad, but he quickly pulled himself together. “I’m sorry, but I have to call Paul and figure out what the fuck is going on.” He got up, not having touched his food. “Give me your number and if I find anything out, I’ll let you know.”
