We both had been having a hard time working and staying at home. I’d been getting headaches; my body had also been stiff and sore. I knew once that wood came in, I would need to bust my ass to make that deck in record time.

Sandwiches were the best I could do, so I laid everything out, even finding onion rings in the freezer. I made the sandwiches, and air-fried the onion rings. Putting everything out on a big tray, I took it into the living room, hoping that we could all eat together. It would be easier to tell them I knew where she was staying, over food.

I knocked on Aiden’s door announcing that lunch was ready. Knocking on Nathan’s door as I walked in I noticed he was sitting up, looking through his phone.

“What?” he said, not looking at me. Nathan and I had been having a hard time this past week. I knew he blamed me for everything. I didn’t know she was going to come back into the house. I was fucking terrified at the endless possibilities going through my head of what could happen to Jane.

We had all agreed to have her go back to Dallas for a bit, but I was the one getting backlash because I said this relationship might not last long. I hated that I said it, but she didn’t even give me a chance to explain why I did it. Relationships are complicated, and it was easier not to get attached.

Honestly, I thought I was ok being by myself, enjoying relationships that were purely sexual. I didn’t know what I was missing until Jane came along with everything she had brought with her the past few weeks. Coming home to her and knowing she was at home for me was a feeling I didn’t know could feel so fucking great. I thought home was where I slept at night, but it was wherever Jane was.

“Lunch is ready,” I said, sitting on his bed.

“I’ll eat in here,” he said, still not looking at me.

“I think I know where Jane is, and I want to discuss it with all of you.”

He glanced at me. “What do you mean you think you know? Did you see her? Is she in Mountain View?”

“I have lunch in the living room. It would be easier if we all talked about it together.” I got up from his bed, knowing I had him hooked. I was about to walk out the door when I noticed Aiden staring at me.

“Is it a hunch?” he asked.
