“I want to help, because I can, and I know what Lucio is capable of.” He put his hands in his pockets.
We stared at one another for a moment before Cal and I exchanged a look like we were going to trust him.
“Fine, but I swear to god if you fuck us over, I’ll make sure no one finds your body,” Cal threatened Evan.
“Noted,” he said, nodding his head.
“Now, what the fuck is going on with Lucio?” I asked, because while he was here, I might as well see what kind of shit we were dealing with.
“He’s trying to get bigger, bring in more money, and it’s getting out of control. He just had a shipment of drugs, which was not the quality he wanted. The club is having problems with permits, and well, his plans aren’t going how he wanted them to go,” Evan said, leaning over the couch.
“What is his end game?” Nathan asked, with his eyes closed.
“I don’t know, he sounds like he wants a sliver of Colorado for his own. Rumor has it, his brother runs east Colorado. He runs fight rings, drugs, girls, and a few clubs. Something must have happened for him to start something over here and want to do it quick.” Since Evan was pretty high up in whatever Lucio had going, he was good to have around.
“So, he wants to run this side of Colorado? Jesus Christ.” Cal paced again, making me feel even more anxious. I knew this was weighing on him, and it was only a matter of time before he caved.
“What are your plans for Jane?” Evan asked.
I snapped my head up looking right at him, glancing at the guys. We all were staring him down.
“Why? What do you know?” I asked, feeling suspicious again. Fuck, I hoped he would not fuck us over.
“I’m just wondering because at this point you know Lucio is a wild card.” He straightened up.
“You better tell us what you know, Evan.” Nathan was trying to get up from the sofa again.
“I don’t know anything. I’m just making sure you guys are taking this seriously,” he said, stepping back like he knew at any moment we might go after him.
“Nathan, sit back down,” I said, walking over to him to make sure he laid down.
“Evan, please, if you hear anything, you need to let us know.” Nathan was pleading. I knew he had it bad for her. I think we all had it bad for her. She was the first thing we thought of after this whole scene went downhill.
“I will, I promise.” Evan looked serious. “I think we need to talk about what we are going to do with you, though.”
“I’m fine,” Nathan winced, as we got him to lie back on the sofa.
“You need a doctor,” Evan pressed.
