No one answered right away. I looked up at all of them, noticing some varying injuries. It looked like they all got into a fight with Callum and Nathan looking the worst. I finally settled my eyes on Aiden when he finally spoke. “Lucio called Cal in for a fight. It was supposed to be  quick and easy. The guy they paired him up with was someone he had beaten.  When someone came in at the last minute looking for a fight, Lucio decided Cal needed to fight him.”

“You didn’t think to call me? I could have gone with you,” I said, trying to rein in my emotions.

“We didn’t think it was going to be a hard fight. The name they gave Cal was an easy guy that he’d beaten before,” Aiden said, pacing.

“I could have said it was an emergency, I could have...”

“I fucking lost,” Callum snapped, interrupting me. “Because I fucking lost, Lucio thought I did it on purpose, and he made sure to give me an incentive to never lose again. So I’m fucking glad you weren’t there.”

“He beat Nathan because you lost?” I asked, shocked.

“He thought I had lost on purpose, but this guy was a beast. This guy fought like a professional, and the crew he had with him looked like they were, too.” He ran his hand through his hair, wincing. “We went three rounds before he knocked me the fuck out. The next thing I knew, I was being hauled into the locker room and Lucio started accusing me of losing on purpose. He said I was doing it just to fucking spite him, and I deserved another reminder.”

I felt sick because I was glad I didn’t go, but I still could have helped or maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad if I had been there. Fuck. Anxiety clawed at me because Nathan did not look good, and I was worried that Callum could have injuries we couldn’t not see.

“Do we need to go to the hospital?” Aiden asked.

“We don’t have a choice, I can’t do anything for his injuries, and we definitely need an X-ray,” I said, inspecting his hand again.

“I told you his hand looks fucked up and even you can’t fix it, Aiden,” Evan snapped.

“What are you doing here?” I was feeling suspicious of him.

“I want to make sure Lucio didn’t send anyone and prevent Nathan from getting treatment.” I stared at him, still not trusting him.

“He needs a hospital. If they don’t set his hand right, he can have lots of problems later on,” I said, hoping they knew how serious it was.

“Dammit,” Callum snapped. He started pacing the room, looking guilty. This whole situation was getting out of hand, and I knew it was getting harder for Callum.
