Irritation sprang up inside of her, but she managed to shove it back down. Before she unleashed it, she needed to finish the video and turn the camera off. She didn’t need to make an unintentional blooper reel of her murdering her trainer. “Okay, guys. I know we didn’t answer all of your questions, but we’ll try to get to those during another update. If you have more questions, leave them in the comments below. Until next time.”

“Take care,” Adam said, raising a hand as a goodbye gesture.

She ended the video, making sure the camera was off, and then glared at him. “Why did you do that?”

He gave her a sheepish look. “What?”

“On a live video feed, you volunteered me to give weekly updates on my weight loss. That was the equivalent of you throwing me under a bus and then running me over with it. Twice. What the hell?”

“I’m sorry. That wasn’t my intention. I was just trying to help you stay accountable. It was just a suggestion. If you didn’t want to do it, you could’ve said no.”

“And then I would’ve felt like a jerk. Probably looked like one too.”

He smiled. “You wouldn’t have looked like a jerk.”

“Well, I will if I don’t lose any weight on Monday.”

“If you’re following the diet plan and working out with me, you’ll lose weight. I promise. But either way, you need to quit worrying about what other people think.” Adam covered her hand with his. “This is about you. Not them.”

The heat of his hand surrounding hers melted away any annoyance she felt, and she sighed. “I know. But it’s hard for me not to care what others think. It shouldn’t matter, but it does.”

Adam frowned. “Sweetheart, we live in a world where people judge harshly. If you let their opinions matter, you’ll always have someone spewing negativity your way. The only opinion that matters is your own. You get what I’m saying? No one else matters. Not society. Not your viewers. Not even me.”

Preslee’s gaze met his. “No, Adam. You definitely matter.”

His eyes darkened, and his lips formed a thin, tight line. His hand wrapped around hers more firmly as his thumb moved in slow, sensual circles on her palm. “Preslee.”

Her heart thumped faster at the husky way he murmured her name. His intense gaze bored holes into her, and she got the sense that something was about to happen. What, she wasn’t sure. But something was definitely coming. And, holy hell, it would most likely be her if he didn’t stop looking at her like that.

Adam opened his mouth to speak, and Preslee held her breath, waiting to hear whatever he would say. But before he spoke a single word, Josh appeared next to them. “Hi, how’s the workout going?”
