Mixing business and pleasure wasn’t easy to do, and that kind of complicated relationship should always be kept on sacred ground. Otherwise, it could negatively affect a working relationship, as well as a friendship.

She probably should’ve stuck to her guns last night and never let this happen. But it was too late. She couldn’t go back and change anything now. Not that she really wanted to. Maybe Adam didn’t know it, but he had stripped her bare last night. Not just in the literal, physical sense. He had touched something deep inside of her, a depth no one had ever reached before.

Although Preslee wasn’t sure exactly what that entailed, the two of them making love had signaled a shift between them. Good or bad, she wasn’t sure. There was a huge chance that, along with the light of day, a whole new set of challenges would arise that they would have to face. Starting with where they stood as trainer and client.

All she knew was that she couldn’t lose him from her life. Not now. Not ever. She snuggled more fully into his side, her head lying just over his heart, listening to it beat. He stirred, and she felt the warmth of his hand on hers before he dozed off again.

God, this man. She wanted nothing more than to stay in this intimate, magical place the two of them had created for as long as she could.

Adam pulled up beside Preslee’s car, which was still sitting in the empty parking lot outside of Bottoms Up. The sky was a murky gray, and rainwater sluiced off the shiny metal of the car, falling in puddles on the ground. “Need an umbrella?”

She peered at her passenger-side window, which sheeted water from it. “No, that’s okay. I’m not scared to get wet.”

“Oh, baby, I know that already,” he said, grinning. “But you still might not want to get rained on.”

A pretty pink blush bloomed on her cheeks. “Stop it.”

“Stop what?”

“Stop…looking at me like that.”

He chuckled. “Like what?”

“Like you’re ready to strip me down to nothing and have your way with me again.”

He waggled his brows. “I like the way you think.”

“Uh-uh.” She pointed at him. “If you hadn’t looked at me like that earlier, we would’ve been here before the rain started. But no. You insisted on me staying for breakfast.”

He shrugged. “I was hungry.”

“Well, you couldn’t have been too hungry seeing how we ended up back in the bedroom before we finished cooking and didn’t even eat anything.”

“You didn’t,” he corrected. “I had my breakfast in bed, and believe me, I ate until I was completely satisfied. In fact, I believe we both were.” He winked.
