Preslee threw back her head and laughed. A lot. “Yeah, because that went so well last time.”

He shrugged. “I don’t think it went that bad. Even now, you’re still getting followers and comments on the post.” Yeah, he’d been watching it. “People seem very interested in hearing more about your fitness journey.”

Her head snapped up, and her pupils dilated. “Wait, you aren’t kidding?”

“No,” he said, smiling. “I think it would be in your best interest to do more video updates and talk about your workouts. It will help you with accountability, but it could also inspire others.”

She shook her head. “B-but it’s an antiquing vlog. It doesn’t have anything to do with fitness.”

He leaned forward. “That doesn’t seem to matter to the viewers who are following you. Besides, you said business had picked up at your shop since you posted that first video. We had new members sign up because of it too. It might be worthwhile to do a few more. It could be good for both of us.”

She considered his idea long and hard before speaking. “Well, I have been wanting my dad to retire so I can take over the business. Maybe if I show him that I can bring in more customers and handle things on my own, he would be willing to do so.”

Adam hadn’t known about that, but he nodded anyway. “Couldn’t hurt.”

“But what if it doesn’t work?”

“Then nothing changes. You’re still in the position of trying to convince your dad to let you take over the shop.”

“And trying to get Josh to notice me?”

He shook his head. “No. I’ll still help with that.”

Another moment of silence passed. “So, basically, you scratch my back and I scratch yours?” Her nose squished up as if she wasn’t convinced.

“Yep,” Adam told her, though he wasn’t really feeling it either. Because the fact was, although he couldn’t ask her out, the last thing he wanted to do was help her date some other guy.

Who was he kidding? This stupid plan would never work. Good thing she didn’t seem any keener on the idea than he was. “It’s okay if you aren’t interested. We’ll just forget I said—”

Preslee thrust out her hand. “It’s a deal.”

Chapter Seven

Preslee pulled out her phone and got ready to go live.

She couldn’t believe she’d agreed to this. It was one thing for her to do a video about antiques, because she knew what she was talking about. But it was a whole different thing to do one about working out. What the heck did she know about it?
