“Good,” Michael said, a smile tipping the corners of his mouth. Then he glanced over at Preslee. “Would you like to join us? I wouldn’t mind having something pretty to run after.” Then he winked at her again.
Adam’s hand fisted. One more wink from Michael in Preslee’s direction, and Adam was going to punch his brother in his eye and close it for good. Or at least until the swelling went down.

Chapter Nine
Preslee couldn’t believe Adam hadn’t mentioned having a brother.
Well, actually she could. It wasn’t like Adam had been very forthcoming with personal information. In fact, he knew way more about her than she did about him. He knew where she lived, where she worked, what she liked to eat, what exercises she hated, what kind of car she drove, and the most personal information of all—how much she weighed. No one, not even her father, knew the answer to that question.
Adam had come to her work, stood in her bathroom, raided her kitchen, and even ridden in her car. Yet she hardly knew anything about him. He owned a gym and worked as a personal trainer. Oh, and apparently he had a brother.
That was it?
Man, she really didn’t know jack about him. Probably because he was the trainer and she was the trainee. It was his job to know things about her. Yet she had somehow fooled herself into thinking that they were becoming friends. But how could they be friends when she knew nothing about him?
Apparently, she was just a job to him. Nothing more. And she would do good to remember that. If for no other reason than to not get hurt when they eventually parted ways. After that, she’d probably never see him again. The thought had her stomach clenching. Damn it. This was why she always kept people at a distance.
Adam gazed over at her. “You ready to work out?”
“Sure,” she said with a nod before glancing at Michael. “But what about your brother? Don’t you…ah, want to spend some time getting caught up? We can always meet up tomorrow evening.”
Adam frowned. “No, you’ve already taken the weekend off. You’re not missing out on another workout. I don’t want you to lose the ground you’ve gained over the past two weeks.”
“But, Adam, your brother is in town—”
“It’s fine. I can give him a key to my house, and he can let himself in. That way he doesn’t have to wait around for me to finish up.”
