“Good idea. You need all the sleep you can get right now so that your body can recuperate from the exhaustion.”

She nodded. “Thanks again for everything you did for me earlier today. I appreciate it.”

“You’re welcome. And just so you know, you did great on the mud run. I really was impressed.”

Her chest filled with pride. “Thanks.”

“Sleep well.”

“You too,” she said, rising from the sofa and heading for the hallway.

“Um, Preslee?”

She stopped in the doorway and turned back. “Yes?”

“About earlier today.”

“You mean the passing out thing?”

He nodded solemnly. “Promise me that you won’t ever do that to me again. I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you.”

Her heart swelled inside her chest. “I promise.”

Chapter Thirteen

Adam released a pent-up sigh.

He couldn’t believe how crazy the past few days had been. Or how quickly everything had come together.

Besides his regular training schedule, he’d interviewed and hired a part-time yoga coach and a certified dietitian, both of whom would be meeting with his clients to help them with their fitness goals. Not only that, but he’d also spent the past few nights helping with renovations going on inside the gym. Ones that were now finally done.

When he’d first mentioned the idea about renovating to Kurt, his gym manager had balked, stating that they didn’t have the funds needed to do any remodeling. Which was true. But business had been increasing each week, thanks to Preslee and her vlog. She’d only done two more posts since the first one went viral, but it really seemed to be helping. More so than anything else Adam and Kurt had tried.

Just last month, before meeting Preslee, they’d done all the free advertising they could think of—posting flyers, sharing business cards, social media giveaways, and even updating the Body Shop’s website. None of which had worked. Someone might have wandered through their doors on occasion, but the underwhelming response hadn’t come close to the number of new members they were now signing up daily. And every one of them mentioned Preslee’s vlog.

But even though business had been good, Adam hadn’t wanted to use the gym’s cash flow to do the renovations. Instead, he’d used money he had saved. It wasn’t a lot. Just a few thousand dollars. But he figured it was enough to do something with. And thankfully he’d been right.

Lucky for him, Adam had three buddies that had helped him out. Max Hager, Brett Carmichael, and Nathan Price. All three were members of the gym, as well as mutual friends with Sam Cooper, the owner of a local construction company.
