What the hell? Preslee couldn’t believe anyone would write such hurtful things to someone they didn’t even know. Yet there seemed to be two offenders: trucks304 and fitsmartguy. She quickly deleted their comments and then scanned the others for any other vile remarks. When she didn’t find any, she checked her previous video. Sure enough, there were more responses from both men.

Your face isn’t bad. But that body? *shudder*

I bet you’re single. No one wants to be with anyone that heavy.

Dear God. The comments were only getting worse.

Preslee deleted the vitriol and, not wanting to see any more, shoved her laptop away. What was wrong with people like that? Did they get off on putting others down? Did they think it was funny? Because it wasn’t. If anything, it only made them look like jerks. And made her feel like crap, which she was sure had been their intention.

But they were right about one thing. She was single. And it did probably have a lot to do with her size. Lord knows that Josh hadn’t paid her any mind. And Adam had made it clear that his only interest in her stemmed from helping her train.

In fact, the only person who flirted with her was Adam’s brother, and she was almost certain that Michael had only done so because he’d thought she was Adam’s girlfriend. Preslee doubted she would’ve ever seen Michael again if it weren’t for him inviting her to tag along next weekend. But after reading the daunting forums and the nasty comments on her vlog, she really wished she hadn’t agreed to go.

But it wasn’t like she could back out. What would she say? That she was too out of shape to do the race? Man, that would be mortifying to admit out loud. Especially to two fit guys like Adam and Michael.

No, she had to participate. But how?

Desperate to keep from embarrassing herself, Preslee pulled the laptop back to her and spent the rest of the evening searching for ways to prepare for the competition. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find anything that would give her performance a boost. Not when the mud run was only a week away.

She was just about to give up when she clicked on something that piqued her interest. Maybe it was a little drastic. But after reading the harsh comments on her vlog, she was ashamed of herself for letting her weight get so out of control and was determined to keep from embarrassing herself, as well as Adam.

At this point, she was willing to try almost anything.

Pride be damned.

Chapter Ten

Adam leaned over to Preslee as they stood side by side in the registration line. “Do you know what you’d be without me?”
