“Oh, Darling, all I’ve ever craved was your warm cunt wrapped around my cock,” she sucks in a sharp breath, but all I can focus on is the desire to taste her again. “I’d never be able to stay away. Fuck, I dreamed of fucking you, touched myself until it hurt, desperate to be back inside you, every night we’ve been apart.”

“And Tinker Bell? Tiger Lily?”

I study the hurt in her eyes and for the first time, wish I could change that part of my past. Erase the last seventeen years. Remain abstinent, for Wendy, even if she hadn’t done the same in return.

“Never filled the void,” I manage to answer. “Nothing can replace the irreplaceable.”

She stops breathing and I smile. Memories flood my mind and make it almost impossible to see straight.

“I won’t lie and tell you what you want to hear,” I confess, and she still hasn’t taken a breath. “Remember Wendy, I’ll never lie to you. Never hurt you,” leaning in, I gauge her response, when she still hasn’t pushed me away, I bend closer, my lips hovering above her own. “Not like he did.”

She pushes me away so quickly I almost lose my footing. Grabbing a hold of the table just in time, she storms past me before I can reach out and stop her.

“Fuck you, Peter,” she screams. “Not everyone is like you. Lost. You’re so damn lost you can’t see through the make-believe anymore. Hell, to be honest, you never could.”

“I’m not the only one living in a fantasy, Darling,” I seethe, following close behind and barely catching the door before she slams it in my face. “Wake up, Wendy!”

She turns, a bitter laugh falling from her lips. “Right,” she mocks me. “Maybe that’s it. Maybe I’ve been dreaming this whole time. This can’t be real.” Her arms fly out at her sides as she spins in a circle. “Neverland.” Her laugh grows louder. “Yeah, fucking right! Only, why would I dream of a place like this when…”

She stops spinning, her heated stare locking with mine as she stands in the middle of the tree fort. A place we used to share with the lost boys before I returned to Neverland without her and took on the role of Hook.

I lean against the wall and give her a cocky smile. She places her hands on her hips. Defiance, annoyance squares off against me. After a moment, she spins on her heels and stalks off down the hallway.

“Where are you going?” I insist.

“To bed!”
