Chapters (36)
It scares the shit out of me, growing up, so I lose myself to the darkness a little more and promise myself it will never fucking happen again.
Chapter 6
Tinker Bell
“Then they had to tell Peter of Tink’s crime, and never had they seen him look so stern.
‘Listen, Tinker Bell,’ he cried, ‘I am your friend no more. Begone from me forever.’”

PRESENT DAY
“You came to us with a problem. We gave you a solution.” Rolling my eyes, I take a moment and breathe deep before focusing back on the mortal in front of me. “You understood your obligation when you accepted our gift. It pains me to have to remind you, yet again, of our arrangement.”
“You thought, as well as I, that the spell would work, but it didn’t. That’s not my problem. I shouldn’t still be under any obligation.”
“The time to make that decision is not after the fact,” I hiss. “The spell worked. For a season.” What he wasn’t told won’t hurt him. “Now that Wendy is back in Neverland, you are required more than ever to make good on what you promised in exchange for what you want most.”
“I won’t lead her to the faerie ring…”
“Perhaps we’ll put you there ourselves then. Starve you out until you’ve gone crazy and are forced to give us information.”
Silence stretches between us. My ultimatum hangs thick, hopefully forcing an understanding because I’m tired of the good guy act. He sold his soul to the devil, and I’ll be damned if he doesn’t give me what I need, even if I do plan on killing him in the end anyway.
“Let’s not forget, we’ve already renegotiated once,” I seethe. “You originally promised us Margaret and Jane. However, we never were successful at stealing them away. Maybe if we had been, none of this would be an issue now. Wendy would have gone crazy. Peter would have long forgotten about her after witnessing her downfall. That would have given him the extra push he needs to be the Hook Neverland deserves. To fully succumb to darkness. Instead, inside him, there always lingers a small amount of light. A small piece of hope. A reason to remember their past when we’ve worked so hard trying to get him to forget.”
I take a step forward and the coward before me steps back in fear. Eyes widened, fists clenched, I watch and delight in the torment I see staring back at me. The pain. The suffering. The power only I can inflict.
Neverland was a prize Peter didn’t deserve to inherit. A gift Hook will never be man enough to reign over. I see that now and it fuels my rage. My need for retribution.
