The one who has been playing sides since the very beginning. One that came to me with a thirst only I could quench all those years ago and paid for it willingly. He sold his soul in order to get what he wanted most.
Me.
And to rule Neverland as King.
My soldiers step out of the shadows, hands on their weapons and ready for me to say the word. They’ve been waiting eagerly, just as long as I have, to take back the island. Only problem is, I believed it could be done without killing the little tramp that took back what I’ve always wanted. Who I’ve always wanted. Only, with this new development, I won’t be fooled to think otherwise now.
“Any objections?” I scowl as I look around the room.
The person in front of me shuffles his feet, looking to the floor and biting his bottom lip.
“I told you, no one harms Wendy,” he grits out.
I glance towards Tiger Lily, who studies him closely. Slowly turning back his way, I try and read his mind as best I can, to see why he’s so keen on standing in our way. The bastard has a block, a wall up. There’s something I can’t see past for the first time since I’ve known him, and it infuriates me to no end.
Wendy has been a problem since before she first came to the island. Since she first cast a spell on Peter that’s been impossible to break ever since.
I took him from his family all those years ago, when I fell in love with the boy who used to play every morning and long into twilight in Kingston Gardens. The boy who believed in a world no one else knew existed. A land no one else would ever trust in. Except him.
He stayed with me, loved only what I could give him. Neverland. A place where all his dreams could come true. That is, until the day he felt the pull back to his homeland. It was the day the pixie dust I cast on him wore off and something stronger, someone and something that has been impossible to break, grabbed ahold of him tighter and promised to never let go. I feared then what I now realize was always inevitable. It would never let go. She would never let go.
Wendy.
The Darling fucking Wendy.
They played together once as kids. Wendy was maybe ten, eleven. Peter thirteen.
They discovered each other just as I discovered Peter.
I knew what I had to do the moment I saw the way he looked at her. The second I realized she’d always win.
Casting a spell on both of them, I thought I erased their memory and stole Peter away with me, to Neverland for good. To keep him for myself. To keep him away from anything that could ever come between us.
