- Don't miss out!
“What’s he doing in New York anyway?”
“Business meeting.”
“Since tomorrow is Friday, why don’t you fly to New York and surprise him? That way, you two can spend the weekend there and do some shopping.”
“I don’t know. New York isn’t my favorite place anymore,” I replied as I put on my jacket.
“Oh please, Gabby. If you’re afraid of running into Dickwad, don’t be. The city is huge. Anyway, if you did run into him, you’d be on the arm of a sexy millionaire. Wouldn’t you want to show that off?”
“True. Maybe I will.” I turned and smiled at her. “I can fly out first thing tomorrow morning.”
“Good girl. Have a good day at work and I’ll see you later.”

On my way into work, I stopped at Starbucks and picked up coffees for me and Katie.
“Good morning.” I smiled as I set the cup on her desk.
“Thanks, Gabby.”
“Come into my office please,” I said as I walked in and set my purse down. “I need you to book me on the first flight out to New York tomorrow morning. I’m going to surprise Simon.”
“Ah, he’ll love that. Do you know where he’s staying? I can find out for you.”
“He’s at his hotel in Manhattan.”
“Great. I’ll go book your flight now.”
As she walked out, I turned on my computer and a collage of pictures I made of the two of us welcomed me on the screen. A few moments later, I heard my ringing phone. It was Simon.
“Hi there,” I answered.
“Good morning, baby. Did you sleep well last night?”
“As well as could be expected without your arms wrapped around me.”
“Ah, I know. I missed you in my bed last night too. But I’ll be home tomorrow night and I promise to make it up to you. We’ll spend the entire weekend in bed.”
“Sounds good. I can’t wait.”
“I’ll talk to you later. I just wanted to hear your sexy voice. Have a good day, Gabrielle. Don’t miss me too much.”
“Impossible. Have a good day.” Click.
Later that night, Simon and I texted back and forth. I had to come up with a plan for the reason that I wouldn’t be answering his call or messages while I was on the five-hour flight to New York.
“I have to take G to the doctor tomorrow so she can get clearance to go back to work and then we’re going to breakfast. I’ll text you when I get to the office mid-morning.”
“Okay. Have fun and give her and Donovan my best. One more night, baby. One more night, and then I’m all yours.”
