  42. Don't miss out!

G frowned and slowly shook her head. “What’s wrong? What happened, Gabby?”

“I don’t know,” I replied with tears in my eyes.

She wrapped her arms around me and gave me a warm hug. After a few moments, she walked to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of wine, two glasses, and sat down on the couch next to me. I told her about my time with Simon. The things he did, the sex, and his behavior after he got the phone call about his grandfather. But, I didn’t tell her what happened on the plane. That was probably the first and only thing I’d never told her.

“Gabby, what did I tell you about letting your emotions get in the way? Physically, Simon made you feel amazing and that’s all you need. You just got out of a bad relationship and you don’t need to be going through this again.”

“I know. But—”

“No buts. Simon Young isn’t a man you can trust. He’s a millionaire playboy who loves to hook up with different women. Not just one woman. I don’t mean to hurt you, but the man will never commit to one girl. He even told you that. You’ve been hurt enough for the past six years and I couldn’t stand to see you go through that again.”

“You’re right.” I laid my head on her shoulder. “He’s just so fucking amazing in bed.”

“And that’s all you need. If he keeps wanting to have sex with you, then great. If that’s all he wants, even better. You don’t need this complication in your life. Have sex, have fun. You only live once, Gabs; it’s time you start.”

Six a.m., and I was already up on a Saturday morning. Grabbing my phone from the nightstand, I checked to see if I had any messages. Zero. Why did I expect that Simon would text me? Everything G said to me last night was true. I didn’t need any complications in my life. I was starting fresh and building a new life for myself. My main focus had to be my job and the rest would eventually fall into place. Fuck him. That was my new motto.

I stumbled into the kitchen to make some coffee. I jumped when I saw Donovan sitting at the table.

“You scared me. When did you get here?”

“Sorry, Gabby. I came over late last night. You were already sleeping.”

“And why are you up so early?” I asked as I poured a cup of coffee.

“Couldn’t sleep. You’re welcome for the coffee.” He smiled.

“Thanks.” I held up my cup.

This was awkward. I wasn’t fond of Donovan because of what he was doing. If he wasn’t a cheating bastard, he’d be a great guy.

“Sorry your trip got cut short.”
