  42. Don't miss out!

After I went shopping for some new clothes, I stopped at the market and picked up some ingredients to make dinner tonight. It was the least I could do for G since she let me stay here and use her car. As I began to prepare the sauce for spaghetti, I heard the front door open and it sounded like G was on the phone. She walked into the kitchen and held up a brown bag with a smile before setting it on the counter. I got the feeling she was talking to Donovan. Just thinking about him made me sick. When she hung up, she took a bottle of wine out of the brown bag and opened it.

“We are going to celebrate tonight with this beautiful bottle of wine.” She smiled. “Congratulations on getting the job. I want to hear all about it.”

“Then you better sit down,” I said as I stirred the sauce. “Because you aren’t going to believe what I’m about to tell you.”

“Uh oh. This doesn’t sound good.” She bit down on her bottom lip and took her wine to the table.

“Oh, trust me. This is good. I interviewed today with the CEO of Young International.”

“You mean Simon Young himself?” she asked.

“Yep. He’s the one who hired me.”

“That’s odd. Usually, CEOs don’t do that sort of thing.”

“Exactly, but he walked in on me and Peter during our interview, kicked Peter out, and continued it himself.”

“Fuck, Gabby. That man is hot. As in the sexy I-would-fuck-him-all-night-long-and-never-stop way.”

I sighed. “He is sexy. Isn’t he? But that’s not the kicker. Are you ready?”

“Shit, Gabby. Spill it!”

“Simon Young was the man on the airplane when Brendon and I flew back from Vegas.”

Her jaw dropped. “You mean the sexy guy that sat across the aisle from you and helped you with your bag? The same man you couldn’t stop thinking about?”

“Yep. That’s the one.” I smiled.

“For the love of God, Gabby. Do you know who this man is?”

“No. I never even heard of him until today.”

“Well, that’s because you lived in a bubble with Dickwad in your own little world.”

I shot her a look.

“He’s thirty years old and is worth millions. His parents were killed in a train accident in London when he was just five years old and he was sent to the States to live with his grandfather. Simon’s father wanted nothing to do with the hotel industry or the company that his father had spent his entire life building from the ground up, so Simon’s grandfather made it so Simon would be the one to take over when he died. He’s not dead yet, but rumor has it he’s on his way out and when he does die, Simon will no longer be worth millions. He’ll be worth billions. Billions, Gabby!”

“And?”
