“Can we please not talk about this right now? You have a very important party coming up tomorrow.”
****
I took in a deep cleansing breath as I walked through the doors of Simon’s house. Sabrina ran over and grabbed my hand, leading me straight into the backyard. I gasped when I saw two swans floating around in the pool. The yard was amazing and so elegant. White tents filled the open areas with white tables and chairs and the whole yard was lit up like Christmas time with white lights. Flowers were placed, from roses to magnolias, all around and white candles flickered away.
“Well, what do you think?” Sabrina asked in excitement.
“I think it’s elegant and stunning and the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
She smiled at me and then took my hand, looking me over from head to toe. “You are stunning. I love that dress. It’s what I would have picked for you.”
“Thank you. Do you know where Simon is?”
“I think he’s upstairs getting dressed. I have to run and make sure the caterers are doing their job. We’ll talk later.” She kissed me on the cheek.
I walked upstairs, unsure if I should or not, and softly knocked on Simon’s bedroom door.
“Simon, it’s Gabby.”
There was a moment of silence before he told me to come in. When I opened the door, he was sitting on the edge of his bed, putting on his shoes. I sharply inhaled when I saw him in his white suit with a white shirt underneath and the top three buttons undone. He looked like a god and, instantly, my panties were drenched. He stared at me for a brief moment, and I swear I heard a gasp.
“Hello, Gabrielle. You look very beautiful.” He got up from the bed and went over to the mirror.
“Hi, Simon. Thank you. You look great. I love the suit.”
“Thanks.” He smile was soft.
“I sent you a few text messages over the past week and you never replied.”
“Sorry, I’ve been really busy and it’s been a crazy week.”
“I understand. The life of a millionaire running his own company.”
“Yeah, something like that. Did you need something?”
My heart ached. I could tell he didn’t want me in his room. Maybe his girlfriend was on her way over and he was afraid she’d come up here and find us.
“I just wanted to tell you that Sabrina did an amazing job with the yard.”
“Yes. She did.”
Awkward silence set in. “Well, I’m going to head downstairs because G and Donovan should be here any second. I see some guests started to arrive.”
“Okay. I’ll be down in a minute.”
I faked a smile and walked out of the room and down to the bar, where the bartender in white was smiling at me. The same bartender who was at the gala.
