She held up her hand to stop him. Dont. I dont want to be guilted into doing something I shouldnt here and Im pretty sure youre about to ask me to do exactly that.
She wasnt wrong. He wasnt sure how he felt about her being able to see through him so easily, either. Perhaps he wasnt as slick as he thought. Maybe hed never been. How hard would it be to get a list of people who were fired or forced to resign from the hospital in the past six months or so?
For me? Not all that hard. For me to tell you? Impossible.
Why?
Because I could lose my job for leaking peoples personal information. She rubbed at her chin. Not many of them fall into the category youre interested in, though. For most people who leave or are let go, this is just a job. Youre describing someone for whom this is much more than that. Youre looking for someone whose identity and sense of self-worth are tied up in their job. Someone whos invested a lot of time and money in reaching a certain position.
Morgan sat back in his chair. She was so smart. Shed gotten exactly what he was trying to imply. How does that help me?
She opened a file drawer behind her and pulled out a stapled sheaf of papers. She slid them across the desk to Morgan. This is a directory of doctors who had privileges at Georgetown six months ago. These are all the doctors who were able to treat or admit patients here.
And? He stared at the pages, not sure what to do with them.
And you could go through it and see if theres anyone on that list who isnt here anymore. That would give you a narrower list.
Okay. He took the sheaf of papers and started to leaf through it. He saw her logic. It would be time-consuming, but not impossible. Hed take this list and see if any of those doctors were no longer working at Georgetown. That would give him a shorter list to work with. Thanks, Ash.
She narrowed her eyes and sighed before she spoke again. One more thing, but you did not hear it from me. Theres one person who will be on that list who was asked to leave because of a pattern of harassing female staff.
Were Lexa, Brianna, or Michelle victims of the harassment? He sat back in his chair. Was that the connection they were looking for? It would hardly be in the files the FBI had.
Ashley shook her head. I cant share who specifically reported him, but it does seem to fit with what kind of people are getting hurt here. Theyve all been young women, right?
He nodded.
The person Im thinking of doesnt know who reported him either. He could be making assumptions.
Morgan stood. Ashley, thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
