You mean a doctor or a nurse? Didnt they all take that do no harm oath? Wouldnt that preclude murdering coworkers?
Exactly like a doctor or a nurse. Someone who spent a lot of time and money getting through school to get a degree and jumped through all the hoops to get licensed and then His words trailed off and he shuddered.
Clearly whatever he had envisioned created a visceral reaction. And then what?
And then did something to get that license revoked or privileges taken away. It would be an incredible blow. There would be shame and embarrassment, loss of income, and . . . loss of their sense of self. Think about it. So much of our identity is caught up in what we do for a living. For a lot of us, its who we are. He looked down at his hands in his lap.
There was something more going on there, but she didnt have time to pursue it. Danielle changed lanes to get on the highway. She understood what he was saying, though. She couldnt imagine having to stop being an FBI agent, especially if she was being stripped of her badge for misconduct of some kind. Okay.
So what if that person was the type who never took responsibility for their own mistakes? You know the kind. Its always someone elses fault or something that was out of their control. His voice dripped with disgust. He clearly didnt have patience for that type.
She definitely understood where he was coming from. The FBI wasnt exactly full of people who were humble and happy to admit any kind of wrongdoing. They were not her favorite co-workers.
What might a person like that do? Maybe try to get revenge against the people he felt wronged him? Morgan continued. Would they go so far as to kill people they thought were responsible? Someone in the medical field would definitely know how to fake an injury convincingly enough to lure someone to them.
It wasnt a bad theory and it was definitely another place to start digging and they needed that. Do you have anybody specific in mind?
He turned back to face forward. No.
How many people work for the hospital? Danielle asked.
Morgan shrugged. If you include everyone doctors, nurses, techs, physicians assistants, staff probably around 9,000 people.
Danielle whistled. That was a lot of personnel to look through. Not a small group. Do you have an idea of how to narrow that down?
No, but Ive got an idea of who I can ask.
