So there is this guy in there, who you will either be in love with or hate. His name is Jonah and he looks a lot like you before you filled into your adult body. But he's younger than you and he is doing SO WELL with his career. He just got a regular part on The Sopranos and he's like twenty-four years old. He's a friend of Sam's. They worked on the new Coen brothers movie together. I don't know—it's like he's more sincere? I don't mean that in a bad way about you at all. . .1 more mean that in a generational way, like we're these cynical Generation Xers and the people younger than us have promise?
Did you see Jacob Fountainhead was here? With his A&R rep who is actually cool and not a jerk? Jacob's so funny and successful now? With his album deal with Virgin and everything? Do you not keep in touch with him?
He came zooming in from his SNL appearance to just say hi to Sam. He's been a really big supporter of Sam's work since I introduced them—I mean, you know, Sam is so covered with people trying to be his friend or trying to microwave old friendships with him that he sort of appreciates someone kind of "screening" people for him. And since Jacob is such a close pal of mine . . . you? Right, yes I remember you used to work with Jacob. Where did you guys work together again? That's right, Kafka-fe. Oh weird—that was so long ago—
Andy! Be sure to tell Deb about the afterparty!
Sorry. Oh, yeah it's this stupid small afterthing we're going to. It's just a stupid and small afterthing.
Oh no, Uma is meeting us downstairs. We don't need to call her.
It's dumb . . . it's small . . . a stupid . . . afterthing . . .
Anyway, yay about that little play you wrote and performed! I didn't see it, but Jack said he saw it. So, yay! Great! It's really great that you are doing that. You did it, you took a step. You know I really admire you. It's just so great that you are just going to stick it out and see how long it takes.
And with TV and film being deluged with money, it's so great how you are sticking with theater. It's just so honest. You know I should really tell Conan or a producer or someone about it. Oh it closed? Well let me know next time!
Oh wait! Do you have it recorded? Maybe we could give it to Sam to give to his producer friend, Harvey.
You have it on what? VIDEO?
