  89. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

RB: So, after all of that, I’ll sum it up: You aren’t missing much by not having relationships. For as much joy as they can bring, they can also bring immense pain and self-loathing.

JD: I wish I knew your real name. And that I was with you right now.

RB: What? Why?

JD: So I could hug you tight and let you know you’re enough. MORE than enough.

JD: You’re not too much or too difficult. You’re perfect exactly as you are, “flaws” and all.

JD: Though, to me, those aren’t flaws at all. They make you, you.

JD: And I’m not going to lie, RB. I cannot wait to meet you so I can experience all of these parts of you myself.

JD: I have a flashlight. We can navigate the darkness together.

RB: That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.

JD: My opinion of you won’t change when we meet in real life. I don’t want you to act differently around me.

JD: I’m doing this with you, and that includes all of you.

JD: Don’t hold back. I want every piece of you.

JD: Got it?

RB: You’re an extraordinary man, JD.

RB: I can’t wait to meet you either.

JD: Five days.

RB: But who’s counting?

September 29th

JD: Favorite fight scene from a movie?

RB: Hello.

JD: Oh, yeah, hey.

JD: I’m watching Creed. I know, wild Wednesday night over here.

JD: The movie has me all amped up and wanting to take up boxing. So, I’m curious what the best fight scene of all time is.

RB: Honestly, JD. You need to make your questions more difficult.

RB: The answer is the ending to Thor: Ragnarok. With Zeppelin playing and everyone kicking ass? Iconic.

JD: Wow. You’re totally right.

RB: What song would YOU want to play in the background as you throttle your enemies?

JD: I appreciate you thinking I would throttle my enemies and not crumble like a piece of paper.

JD: That’s tough. Do I go the obvious route and pick something punk rock? Or do I go totally into left field and say “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”?

JD: Screw it. I’m taking Cyndi Lauper. Final answer.

RB: I’m giggling. You’re so weird.

JD: I made you laugh, didn’t I?

RB: Fair point. You did.

JD: Time for you to answer your own question.

RB: Dang it! Okay. Let’s see.

JD: I paused my movie and I’m sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for your answer.

RB: Hey! I’m not worthy of stopping a movie!

JD: Trust me. You are.

RB: Okay. “Tubthumping” by Chumbawamba.

RB: Or “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls.

JD: I’m cracking up. RB!!!!! You have some jokes, woman!

RB: Oh! Or “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”
