  89. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“I’m struggling to find words adequate enough to convey how wonderful you look. I knew you were stunning that night in the office, when I helped zip up your dress. Trust me, I’ve been thinking about it ever since. And I know you’re stunning every day of the week, even with muffin crumbs on your face. Knowing you’re here with me tonight, wearing this, and I can stare at you all evening by my side, makes you even sexier.”

She beams and spins slowly, letting me see the whole ensemble. When my eyes land on her ass, I suppress the groan building in my throat. So round. I want to run my hands under the material and grasp her cheeks, my fingers digging into her skin while I fuck her from behind, watching her bounce on my dick.

“Thank you.” At the completion of her turn, she walks toward me, hips swaying threateningly. She’s an assassin coming for her prey. She could behead me for all I care, and I’d thank her for it. Anything for one more second to appreciate her beauty. “You look very handsome,” she remarks, stopping in front of me and looking me up and down, repeating the assessment I gave her.

“Shucks. This old thing?”

Emma lets out a chuckle, her hand resting on my tie and threading it through her fingers. The red nails from yesterday stand out, crimson against the black. A gentle tug has me leaning forward, closer to her. “I see you in suits all the time, but this looks different.”

I cup her cheek with my palm, noticing how close her lips are. It takes restraint to not pounce and fuse our mouths together, mine over hers, relishing in the first taste of sweetness. “Are you ready for our big test?”

“Yeah. I think I am.”

When we arrive at the door to the backyard, Emma peers through the window. “Wow,” she breathes out. “This looks spectacular.”

I’m not admiring the circular tables covering the massive lawn or the lantern lights dangling around the perimeter of the grass, illuminating the inky night sky. I’m not paying attention to the stage with instruments and the long buffet tables with metal containers of catered Italian food.

No. I couldn’t care less.

A knot in my chest forms as I steal a glance at Emma’s side profile. The pressure near my heart tightens, becoming almost painful. A million sights in the world, and all I can look at is her.
