“Is that what’s been bothering you?” It was her turn to raise her brow at me.

“Not entirely, but I think about it and what people will say,” I said.

“Girl.” Darcy held my shoulders. “Don’t live for others. If they can’t be happy for you, then they should go fuck themselves.” She sounded like Madie for a moment, and it made me appreciate her even more. “Now go jump on that train because I want all the dirty details.”

I laughed as I pulled her in for a hug. “Thanks Darcy. You deserve to be happy, too. Don’t forget that.”

She pulled away and smiled, but with sadness in her eyes. “Who knows, maybe a rich man might come and sweep me off my feet.”

“If his name is Evan, then I’m all for it.” I said, even though it was probably no use.

She rolled her eyes. “Go, before I decide, I want to be the egg salad in a Callum and Aiden sandwich.”

“Bye,” I laughed as I left the shop. I walked to my car, wondering if I was just making this more complicated than it really was.

* * *

Sometimes I still couldn’t believe I was in Mountain View. It was getting harder to think about moving back to Dallas. I enjoyed the simpler, less chaotic life here. Even though the drive to Monroe sucked, I was still ok with it. I never sat in traffic, and I enjoyed listening to music or a spice audiobook. I was feeling more comfortable here and as I pulled up to the house, seeing Callum and Aiden carrying boxes, it made me wonder how much they had contributed to it.

Getting out of the car, I walked up to the truck, ready to help.

“We got it, babe.” Aiden lifted another box from the trunk and took it to the shed.

“I don’t mind.” I reached for a box, barely moving it.

“They are heavy,” Callum said, taking down another box. “Just go make sure we are putting them correctly in the shed.”

I walked to the shed that was to the right of the house, noticing a lot more boxes. It was supposed to only be a few boxes, and I did not know what the hell was in them.

“What the hell did your brother send you?” Aiden grunted, setting down a box.

“I don’t know, and that worries me.” I started counting the boxes and began looking to see if they might have a sign of what might be inside.

“JD said it was decorations and the bigger boxes was the arch he ordered.” Callum set more boxes down. “He also said it was stuff like chargers, plates, and cutlery.”
