I slowly extracted my hands away from hers to cup her face. “I know sorry means nothing without action behind it, and I promise we will make it up to you.” Leaning forward slowly, I gave her time to reject the kiss I was desperate to give her. I closed my eyes, pressing my lips to hers softly, then with a little more pressure, turning it into firm kisses until she opened up for me and I massaged my tongue against hers. Her hands grabbed my forearms, pulling me forward slightly to deepen the kiss. I groaned, and she stilled instantly.
She laid a hand on my chest, pushing me away. “Aiden.”
“I’m sorry,” I said. “I didn’t mean to get carried away. You have a way to make a man lose control.” A light blush stained her cheeks, I had forgotten how easy it was to make her blush and how much I missed it, too.
“It’s ok, it’s not like I don’t want to kiss you, Aiden.” She pursed her lips. “I just don’t know if we should continue to do this.”
“Can you at least hear Cal out before you make a decision?” I asked, looking for Cal. “Nathan wanted to talk to you, too.”
“I just need a few minutes,” Cal said, walking towards us.
Jane looked at Cal. “Let’s get Nathan. That way, we can all say what we need to say.”
“Let’s eat while we talk.” Nathan picked up Jane, receiving a glare that held little heat.
“I’m not an invalid,” she snapped as she laid her head on his shoulder, clearly enjoying being carried.
“I know. This is my excuse to hold you.” He laid her on the blanket Cal laid out.
“Nathan,” she sounded like she was going to scold him.
“Jane,” he chided, giving her a kiss on the nose. “Eat.” He handed her a bagel with cream cheese.
“It’s like you knew I was coming,” she picked up her bagel, taking a bite out of it.
Nate shrugged. “It might have been wishful thinking.”
Cal studied both of them as he sat down with a few breakfast burritos. He had been quiet for the last few days. A pensive look had replaced his usual scowl. I glanced at Jane, noticing she was looking at Cal, who now looked sad. I knew he had hurt her the most, from what Cal told me. They had a pretty good weekend together in Dallas, but fucking always makes for a pretty good weekend.
“So now that we are all together, I think we all have something to say. I think Aiden made his peace, right?” Nathan asked, looking at me, and I nodded my head. “So, I just want to say I’m sorry again. I think we can all agree we handled it wrong. We should have included you in our decision.”
