“Shit, he’s coming.” He pulled away from her, and his eyes were just as surprised as hers. As if he didn’t know he would kiss her until his lips met hers.
“What, you’re coming?” Confused, Liza’s head swirled with sensory input.
Park came back from wherever he had scurried off to and made conspicuous noises announcing his presence.
“Damn! Mood change,” Park said. Liza hopped off Dorsey like he was made of hot coals and folded her hands over the wet spot on her shirt. It was translucent now, and one could make out the brown edges of the nipple underneath. Shit, she would need to go to the bathroom to finish herself off. From the looks of him, Dorsey would beat her to it. He didn’t even try to hide his glossed lips and dazed expression.
He licked his fingers. Actually licked. Like she was the last bit of sticky, sweet dessert. He got up and made for the bathroom, and it was a herculean feat to not follow him there and help him out. Minutes passed in deeply awkward silence. Park’s eyes bounced away from her as she looked toward the bathroom. That she knew what he was doing in there continued to light her on fire. The thought of him stroking himself, wanting her so badly, maybe calling her name out, had her rocking in her seat.
After a few minutes, Dorsey opened the bathroom door and found her eyes again. The intensity of his gaze and the set of his jaw would have terrified a lesser woman. Even if she had never seen an I’m-going-to-fuck-the-shit-out-of-you face, it was the type of look she knew when she saw it. She wouldn’t get out of this untouched tonight.
They spent the night writing, listening, choosing songs, and guzzling wine. Liza absorbed a ton of information about the history of music in the Philippines and Korea, and she built playlists that would tell a story of the people. Dorsey played “Respeto” in the background and got into a real shouting match with Park over Filipino rapper Gloc-9 vs South Korean Keith Ape. Liza held her hands up when they looked at her to confirm a point. She wasn’t interested in telling someone else’s story and co-opting it. She lined up culturally appropriate guest DJs and librarians who would come onto her show. Park even gave her a few restaurants where she could go on location and promote. The result was a full sensory experience completely mapped out. When it was time for this radio installation, it would be her best. Liza checked her phone. Shit, it’s three thirty in the morning. She needed to keep her promise to Chicho.
Dorsey caught her looking. “I know you have to go.”
“I’m having a great time. I just promised Chicho . . .” Her tone was tinged with a little regret. She wanted this night to end differently.
