He smirked. There were lots of things he wouldn’t mind doing to her mouth and none of them included ignoring it. “I’ll do my best.”
“So what now? Do you have some kind of eating plan I have to follow?”
“Yep,” he said, dragging her back into the kitchen and stopping in front of the trash can and the donation bags on the counter. He pointed to both. “See all that stuff I bagged up or threw away?” He waited for her to nod. “It’s crap. Don’t buy it anymore.”
She squinted at him. “That’s your big diet plan? Jeez. You really are bad at this whole personal trainer thing.”
Amusement bubbled up inside him. “Ya know, you might consider being nicer to me since you start training in the morning and I’m the guy who’s going to be making you sweat.” Man. Why was everything suddenly sounding so…sexual?
“True,” she replied, the corners of her mouth tipping into a grin. “But if I don’t figure out what I’m allowed to eat, then I’ll probably die halfway through the workout anyway. Then it won’t matter whether or not I was nice.”
Adam chuckled. “Well, we can’t have that now, can we?” He handed her a list of healthy foods that he wanted her to eat and a list of the ones she was allowed to have in moderation. “This is your new meal plan. Be sure to have a protein shake and eat a good breakfast. I’ll need you in peak form and ready to go. Meet me at Windsor Park at eight o’clock tomorrow morning.”
“Eight o’clock? But it’s Saturday, and it’s my day off. I planned on sleeping in.”
He shook his head. “Not anymore.”
She crossed her arms. “What happened to you working around my schedule?”
“I lied,” he said with a grin. “The only exception is your job. Of course I’ll work around that. Otherwise, sweetheart, you belong to me.” The moment the words left his mouth, his heart thumped hard in his chest, and her eyes widened. Okay, he probably shouldn’t have worded it quite like that, but…ah, well. “You know what I mean.”
The look of confusion on her face told him that she wanted to argue though she wasn’t quite sure what they’d be arguing about. So he made a hasty retreat for the front door while he was still able to. “Cut out any fast food, soda, and candy. Focus on protein and fiber. Drink lots of water. Also limit your carbohydrates to good carbs only and watch your portions. Any questions?”
“Yeah. Do you have a nutritional plan that doesn’t suck?”
He shrugged. “Not really. But I can teach you how to satisfy your cravings.”
“Thank God for that.”
