That was settled. Good. Especially since Adam couldn’t influence her goals. But all bets aside, he would never let her do anything as dangerous as losing too much weight. Her health and safety were way more important than winning some stupid bet. Besides, it wasn’t like he hadn’t lost to Kurt before. He’d live.

And he didn’t really give a shit about her number on the scale either. There were other ways to monitor a person’s weight loss without focusing on numbers. Her clothes would fit differently. The exercises would become easier. Her body would grow stronger. All good indications of progress. If it weren’t for the bet, he wouldn’t have even agreed to weigh her. But he had no choice.

Still, no matter how much weight she lost, the important thing was for her to feel good about herself and be proud of her beautiful body. That was what he wanted most for her. Everyone deserved that.

“Now,” Adam said, glancing up from his clipboard, “how long would you like to give yourself to reach your goal weight?”

She squinted at him. “I’m really starting to doubt your abilities as a trainer, Adam. Aren’t you the one who’s supposed to figure this stuff out?”

He grinned. Yeah, usually. But the stupid bet was changing the rules on him. “Well, these are your goals. I want to hear your thoughts and know what your expectations are. If I think you’re being unrealistic or feel like it’s not a healthy timeline, I will steer you in the right direction.” Whether Kurt liked it or not.

“Okay, how about three months? Is that enough time to lose forty pounds?”

“Normally, I would recommend someone shooting for no more than two or three pounds a week, but some people tend to lose double that in the first week anyway. So I think that losing forty pounds in three months is a reasonable enough goal. If you work hard, it’s definitely doable.” God. Couldn’t she have made it easy on him and said four months?

Preslee nodded. “Good. Because, if I’m going to do this, then I really want to take it seriously and push myself hard.”

Adam smiled. Hell, he might just win the bet after all. “That’s what I like to hear. It’s a great attitude to have. Being positive will only help you stay motivated and reach your goals.”

Her smile beamed. “Now that this is done, what’s next on the agenda? Is it time to start working out?” Preslee raised both arms over her head and arched her back in a stretch. The move shoved her breasts out, and her nipples jutted through the thin fabric of her green T-shirt.

Heat swirled in his gut, and he licked his lips, his mouth watering at the sight. Then he paused. Dear God. What the hell is wrong with me?

“Adam?”
