He shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.”

Her heart squeezed. “Well, I’m sorry. You didn’t have to do that, but I appreciate you standing up for me.”

“You have nothing to apologize for.” He smiled at her. “And I didn’t lose any business because of you. Instead, I actually gained some. I’ve had new members signing up every day since you posted that video.”

She cringed. “Oh God. You know about the video?”

“Yep.”

“I’m sorry.”

His head tilted to the side. “For what? People loved it. It was funny, endearing, and…well, sweet. Thank you for promoting the Body Shop through your vlog. I appreciate it.”

Her cheeks heated. “It was no big deal. Some people had asked what gym I was in, so I replied and shared the link to your website. I hardly did anything at all.”

Adam shook his head. “Not true. It was good promotion for my business, and it was nice of you. So thank you.”

She smiled. “You’re welcome. I’m glad you got some new members from it.”

“Me too. Now I’m hoping I can return the favor.”

Intrigue swept through her, and she tapped her pen on the desk. “What do you mean?”

He smiled. “The other night you mentioned wanting to get more fit. I’m assuming you still feel that way, right?” She nodded slowly, and he continued. “Well, as I said before, I’m a personal trainer. I want to help you.”

She jerked so hard that the pen in her hand sailed across the room. “You, uh…what?”

His gaze followed the pen and then returned to hers. “You heard me. I want to—”

“No, I heard what you said.” She giggled as though he’d told her a funny joke. God, he was too cute for his own good. And sweet too. “I hate to tell you this, Adam, but with as much as I have to learn, it would cost me a small fortune to hire you.”

His brows furrowed. “I wasn’t planning on charging you. I’m happy to offer my services for free.”

Confusion coursed through her, and she squinted at him. “Why?”

“Because, like I said, I want to help. It’s what I do. I assist others in reaching their health and fitness goals. I’d like to help you reach yours.”

“That’s the only reason?” She eyed him, trying to figure out what he’d gain. In her experience, people didn’t usually do something for someone without wanting something in return.

“Nope,” he said, shifting his weight. “I actually have a selfish reason for wanting to help.”

Yeah, she figured as much. “Tell me.”
